Bridesmaid outfits for getting ready

FutrureMrsA, on November 3, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

Hello all!

I would love to hear some opinions on this subject

I keep going back and forth on what I want my bridesmaids to wear while getting ready and I cant decide between doing the usual robes or if I should do cute pj sets or rompers?! I'm so torn! what does everyone think? has anyone done PJ sets or rompers for their girls?

    No rompers. Ever.

I was given a denim shirt with my initials on it. I love it and still wear it a year and a half later. I look awful in a romper and would be pretty mad if I received one and was expected to be in pics for it. Rompers don't look good on anyone. I would just do a shirt or robe and call it a day.

Just curious for the shirt, was it long enough that you don't wear anything under it? or do you wear it with shorts/leggings?

Yeah- keep in mind the shirt needs to not have to go over their head. I don't like robes unless you are wearing them over something, because it feels too revealing to me. So I'm not giving my bridesmaids robes (they will get nice other gifts), and I'm wearing a shirt and pants under my robe (but a button up shirt so it doesn't go over my head). I don't just sit around in a robe and underwear in front of most people so I certainly wouldn't be comfortable doing that on the day of.

I think floral robes and PJs are just very overdone. Let people wear what they want and are comfortable in.

My BP decided entirely on their own, this may change given the time until my wedding, to wear flannels & leggings....I think they are crazy since the wedding is in September and it may still be warm out...but whatever they want! I am wearing a button down shirt of some sort & leggings or shorts.

I love the PJ idea BTW and if they wanted to go with that I would too!

@jocelyn, I wore leggings with it! It was a size bigger than I normally wear.

Let them wear whatever they want. Robes and rompers suck.

We're doing mismatched flannel/plaid tops with black pants/leggings, like so:

Hopefully, this fad of "dressing the bridesmaids" will be over soon. Since when was it the prerogative of the bride to decide what other grown women wear outside of the wedding?

If you must do this, choose something suitable for their figures, something that is long enough and wide enough to cover everything they don't choose to have in your pictures. And remember, these are not gifts. These are props for your wedding pics.

Yeah the girls in the picture with the flannel shirts look like they aren't wearing pants. That's not cool in my book....

We did bridesmaid robes but I made sure they were long enough in advance and I bought them all cute little slips so boobie escape wasn't an issue.

Yeah, that's why I said we're wearing pants.

It's just for the getting ready photos.

I think that they should wear what's comfortable.

Look up "waffle" robes on amazon or etsy, they seem a little thicker and longer, less revealing than the traditional satin floral robes that most girls do nowadays. They're spa robes and I feel like they are more comfortable and people might actually use them as a shower robe later on, but it's still a prop so I will get them other gifts. I also only have 3 people getting ready with me so it's not like a million people looking at them or anything.

Robes are the affordable option. I looked into pajamas and WOAH they were expensive. Rompers is a cute idea too

I'm doing robes for the getting ready photos. I found them for $12 each on Amazon. They are very pretty for the price. They are floral with a peacock on the back. I did not get them initialed or embroidered so they can wear them again after the wedding. I wanted to do the oxford shirts but they were pricey and sizes were weird so I just went with simplest choice.

I bought all of my ladies sweat pants because it'll be cold and who doesn't love a nice comfy pair of sweats? I got them on etsy here's the link:
