Bridesmaid or no Bridesmaids?

Alexis, on January 30, 2017 at 5:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I am newly engaged and I'm really curious what other people's thoughts are on having Bridesmaids and Groomsmen? Is it mandatory?

I am having a small private ceremony with family, no wedding party.

Just will need someone to stand up for you and sign the marriage certificate I believe

I kept mine very small, with people who I knew wouldn't cause drama.

I'm 100% behind team no wedding party.

It's totally optional and I hear lots of people advocating for no BP at all.

If you do decide to have a bridal party, don't ask them until closer to your wedding though!

We are skipping it. So much easier and saves money.

Not mandatory. Up to each couple. I have 5 bridesmaids and FH will have 3 groomsmen.

We're doing kids only - we have 5 nephews and 5 nieces. We knew they'd be super disappointed not being in it, and it makes it easier not to have adults.

I'm not having and bridesmaids, and he's not having any groomsmen, and I'm pretty okay with that.

I'm mostly kinda bummed that I'm not close enough to any ladies to have as bridesmaids, lol.

Not mandatory. Just Keep in mind, having bridesmaids will be more expensive than not.

I am team no bridesmaids. It puts pressure on people to spend a lot of money to throw you parties in addition to all the money they already have to spend to be in your wedding. I don't think it is fair to ask of my family and friends.

No wedding party here. Just because you won't have anyone else standing up there with you doesn't mean they can't help you get ready. At least that's what I'm planning.

We are just having siblings and their spouses (two ppl on each side). I'm too old to ask my friends to be my bridesmaids.

I'm not having any bridesmaids or groomsmen. But I did incorporate all my nieces and nephews and god-Children.

Less stress. Less money. In my situation.

If you decide on a wedding party, don't ask them too soon. Your wedding is not for another ~15 months. Wait until October or so to ask.

It's optional, but I couldn't imagine getting married without my sister and some close friends standing up with me. It's just based on how you feel about that.
