Bridesmaid jewelry/gift?

Katherine, on February 15, 2021 at 12:04 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hi all,
I'm looking for suggestions for necklaces and/or earrings gifts for my bridesmaids. The idea is they will wear them for the wedding day and can also wear them in the future. My wedding style is romantic/classic with perhaps a tiny splash of vintage/elegance.

Any suggestion where to look for jewelry that fits these themes and is also reasonably priced?

Thanks in advance!

Let them pick their own jewelry. If it's to wear for the wedding or pictures, it's not a thank you gift for them. Etsy has some pretty styles, as do Target and Kohls.

That's an interesting perspective. I was a bridesmaid in two weddings where the gift was jewelry and I absolutely love those pieces and I still wear them today. The other weddings I was in, the bride told me what to buy anyway. My bridesmaids were asking what they should wear, so I thought that gifting them the jewelry would be a nice gesture. I will also check out Etsy, thanks!

Etsy has just about any style you can think of! One thing I'd be mindful of is who prefers gold or silver if you want them to use them after the wedding

Countless threads on WW say the same: anything worn for pictures at the wedding is not a gift.

A thank you gift is something not related to the wedding at all, nothing with names, titles, date, etc that they will use and appreciate long after the wedding is over. Basically shopping like it is their birthday to accommodate individual interests. You can keep them in the same price range per person.

I’ve seen plenty of posts that say anything for the wedding day is not a thank you gift. HOWEVER, as someone who has been in countless weddings, jewelry is the only gift I’ve ever received, and honestly I didn’t mind. The way I see it is being asked to be a bridesmaid is a honor, and when I agreed to do it I took on that responsibility, so I am not expecting gifts in return. But maybe Im weird? To actually answer your question, Macy’s also has some really cute sets, and they become really affordable during their sales. I also agree with Etsy and Kohl’s being good options!

I bought them each a bracelet from Etsy (the card in the box says I Can’t Tie The Knot Without You). Was at a farmers market & bought each sterling silver earrings that are dangly & the bottom is shaped like a heart.

If you live in or near a larger city with a jewelry district, I would go there and check out the silver dealers in the area. I did this and got some beautiful jewelery for crazy cheap (they just weighed the pieces and charged me based on the price of silver, and it was way cheaper than stuff from Macy's or Kohl's or whatever). When picking the jewelry, I tried to pick individual pieces for each girl. If you want this to be a gift for them, think of their style and taste rather than yours.

I agree with Savannah on this one! I think it's really thoughtful for the bride to cover the jewelry, and it's nice to wear it after the wedding (maybe to dress up an outfit or with a fancier outfit) and think of how much fun it was to participate in the wedding. Sure, the jewelry is for the wedding itself, but it can definitely be used afterwards. Actually, I don't think I've ever received a bridesmaid gift that wasn't related to the wedding (some examples from over the years: getting ready robe, tote bag, hair/makeup cost covered, earrings, lipstick, etc). In terms of suggestions, there are some nice options via Amazon, and I definitely agree with the other suggestions that have been given by prior posters!

Great tip! Yes, if I go the jewelry route, I would definitely consider their style and try to do a hybrid with the wedding style. I have a lot of great insights to consider. Thanks!
