Bridesmaid is Pregnant

Paige, on April 16, 2017 at 11:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Hey everyone! I'm super excited my sister is pregnant!! The dilemma is the wedding is 4 months away. She hasn't bought her dress yet and she won't know her size in 4 months. Can you guys help me with ideas for her to get a fitting dress on time?

Something with an empire waist. As much as I hate DB they have quick order gowns. Alfred Angelo does as well.

Did she just find out? I only ask because I was still wearing regular clothing up until about 5/6 months. What do your bridesmaid dresses look like? Unless they are super fitted it may not be a problem. This is me and FH 10 years ago when I was 7months pregnant with our first son, that's a juniors dress and it worked fine!

Talk to the consultants about your concerns, she will definitely not be the first pregnant BM they've worked with and may be able to suggest dresses that are stretchier fabrics or more forgiving

Something that has a forgiving material like a chiffon maxi dress

Empire waist, or get a dress that can easily have the waist taken up.

Many people say they wear their normal clothes up until about 5 months pregnant but this is different for everyone. I'm only 13 weeks and already buying maternity clothes - just FYI before you assume she can wear any regular size dress.

If she is still early in the pregnancy she may not be much bigger than she currently is. I didn't start showing until about 7 months.

But my sister got married when my youngest sister was 9 months pregnant. She just put us dresses with a high waist and not slim fitting. It worked well for everyone.

I was barely showing at 4 months. This was at 20 weeks, I believe. Just get something high waisted in a size up.

She might not be showing much when the wedding comes but I agree with PP on an empire waist dress.

One of my BM's is going to be 8 months pregnant! She got a maternity gown from David's Bridal. I didn't even realize they offered those, but it makes sense!

Everyone's different in the way they carry. You'll need to be flexible on styles etc for her. Congrats on the new family member, auntie!
