Bridesmaid Horror Dresses

Stacie, on February 18, 2020 at 2:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I am having a horrible time with my bridesmaids dresses and feel like crying right now. After 2 separate fittings, I chose my wedding dress, maid of honor dress and flower girl dress from David's bridal. Now, I need 2 more bridesmaids dresses and they are telling me that the dresses I ordered were not in stock. I tried to ordered 2 more and they have none in the needed sizes until June! My wedding is June 28th! How can a bridal shop run out of regular sizes and it takes 4 months to get more? Now, I have no choice but to try to find bridesmaids dresses off the rack. Ridiculous!!!! I dont even know where to begin!!! Smiley sad

See if you can find them online. I’m sure other places have the same design. Do a google image search and get the style #

A few other threads have mentioned this, but a lot of companies have been experiencing significant delays in imports due to the coronavirus in China. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Hopefully you’re able to find something else that works for your bridesmaids.

I agree with this. I think the Coronavirus is and will potentially continue to have a huge impact on goods manufactured in China. Unfortunately, that's where a lot of clothing -- and especially wedding-related dresses -- are manufactured. I'd guess bridal shops are just now starting to get a clearer idea of the potential impact to their delivery schedules. Like others suggested, I'd look online for resale options and/or in your local department stores for off-the-rack options. Good luck!

I agree with PP. I posted on another thread coronvirus is affecting this. We are ordering from Azazie and they are also experiencing some delays due to production starting in China. I would start checking Poshmark or maybe Amazon.

There might be ones used you could find via posh mark or so

Hey wedding date twin! Can you try ordering the dresses online through david's bridal and expediting shipping?

Its got to be really stressful, I'm sorry! Do you want them all wearing the same thing? Or is it just color and/or fabric that you want similar?

Do you have your MOH and bridesmaids in the same color? If so, I definitely understand how you feel stuck using David's Bridal since using a different provider means you'll probably get a slightly different shade. But, if you have the MOH in a separate color from the bridesmaids, then I would just check another website or shop. Hopefully, you should be able to get a better selection at another place.

I hadn't even considered the coronavirus as a potential impact for dresses. YIKES. I imagine it extends to suits as well. Now Im wondering if I should press my fiance's groomsmen to get their suits sooner rather than later. YIKES

Are they buying or renting? If renting, I'd just check in with the vendor regarding the correct timing -- they probably have a huge inventory on hand. If they are buying, especially special order (SIL's suit was from Indochino, and custom ordered), I'd be more concerned and talk with the store about what they are hearing about their manufacturing and delivery schedules. If they are buying off-the-rack, there's probably less urgency. I think retailers are just starting to figure out what the implications might be.... Good luck!

Most definitely! Get your suits and gowns now! Not sure about suits, but for gowns, alterations can take up to 6 weeks!!

    Hey there,

I did! I ordered 2 dresses along with some bracelets on the website. After the first bracelet came, I checked the order and noticed the dresses were canceled! I freaked out. David Bridals have a chat feature and I spent all day at work (lol) trying to straighten this out. I was told this morning that many of the dresses were out of stock. I get home from work and decided to try again. I contacted Davids Bridal on the chat feature and they checked on a dress and found 2 dresses in the sizes that I need and they are available. The problem now is that I am interested in 2 other dresses lol

I already have my maid of honor dress, which is a halter top, trumpet style stretch crepe gown. Originally, I wanted my bridesmaids dresses to be the same but a different color. That option is no longer available since the dresses are out of stock. Now, I am looking at other options: A) the same style gown: trumpet gown, stretch crepe, but maybe a different color, or B) another style gown but the same color.

Not sure if choosing a flowy, chiffony gown for the 2 bridesmaids would be a good look with the maid of honor in a tight trumpet style gown. This is crazy!!!

I am buying. I found that it is cheaper. I have found many bridesmaid dresses under $100 online and in stores. The rental places I checked started at $100 and up. I did find some dresses in the sizes I like. I will just keep looking.
