I think the original dress is stunning and would never upstage anyone. Bridesmaid dresses in general are designed to be plain and and not be flattering on everyone. So when you do find something that everyone finds that looks good on multiple body types and sizes, then you have a win.


Has your sister tried this dress on before purchasing as is highly recommended or is it a website only that doesn’t have a dressing room? Every local bridal salon has bridesmaids dresses to try on before buying and available in a variety of blue shades.

Hello is your MOH wearing a different style dress or do you want them to wear the same color and style. If they are not then you can find a blue it can be dark blue or a pastel blue if dresses are going to be different

Imani showed you some really beautiful flowing dresses! I like that look a lot better for a beach wedding! The tight dress might be restricting on the beach. Sometimes its best not to give bridesmaids too much control because they will be upset when they cant wear the dress.

If it's an option and possible for you to do, I would suggest maybe refunding her the amount spent on the dress she got (which you're having issues finding something else to match it and you don't feel like it looks like a bridesmaids dress) OR you can offer to pay for a replacement dress that you feel would be more of a "bridesmaid" dress to more easily coordinate with your SIL.

The accents/pattern on this dress appear to be navy, so it would pair well with a navy dress! This dress is busy, so sticking to a color in this dress and silhouette will pull the two together. Picking different tones will just be loud and distract from the bride in my opinion.

It’s hard to clash when you are considering only two people. Sounds like you are not okay with giving up control. In which case you should pick a dress for them which keeps it easy for all. Personally I think this pattern dress is gorgeous! I hope at least one if not all of my bridesmaids pick something as beautiful as this!! The pattern gives your SIL a ton of options. Giving them matching flowers will tie it all together on the day too. Try to envision all the other elements that go along with the dress and maybe that will help? That said, I may be different than other opinions but I think traditional bridesmaids dresses are boring and prevents your closest friends from feeling beautiful at an event they are looking forward to not only attending but also helping you execute. Last thought, why does your SIL need to limit her dress options because someone else picked their dress first? Doesn’t seem fair.

No that’s a mother of the bride dress. Personally I would give them a few more parameters like where they can shop, what length the gown should be, and what kind of material it should be. That way it will make things a bit more uniform while still allowing them some freedom.
