Bridesmaid gifts

Kenna, on September 1, 2021 at 7:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
I am at a loss for gifts for my 4 bridesmaids. I’ve already gotten them personalized cups and fun glasses with the date on them. Should I get them anything? I thought favorite drink (coke/Pepsi), favorite candy/snacks. And maybe some lotion. But I don’t know if that sounds kind of “last minute” or just “thrown together”. Or am I over thinking it….very possible. Please help

Typically you should give BMs gifts that are personalized to them, do not have your wedding date or details on it, does not say “bridesmaid” anywhere on it, and will not be used as a prop in your wedding photos (ie, matching robes or pjs that’ll be photographed while getting ready, cups that have their names or titles in the wedding that will be used for a group photo, etc.).

    Hi there!

I think it’s a great idea to shop per each individuals liking! I’m personally not one who likes getting matchy things or personalized items such as mugs, bottles, bags… I got each of my bridesmaids a picture off Etsy and earrings (see pics below)to wear on the wedding day. I also am including a Amazon gift card. Bridesmaid gifts 1Bridesmaid gifts 2

I would agree with this. I have a ton of stuff I was given as a bridesmaid I’ve never used again and lots of stuff I use all the time. Tip: pink silk robes are only for your photos, very few people wear them IRL. I have three that never get worn I would regift if they didn’t have my name/initials on them.

Your wedding date/bridesmaid/even one with their name on it, etc on a cup or whatever is less likely to get used than a generic pink coffee mug. Just my opinion.
I have been given the jewelry a bride wanted us to wear on the day of the wedding which was very tasteful, and I have worn that set over and over (a rose gold earring/necklace set). I will be buying my girls super soft Soma jammy pants I know will likely get used more than a silk robe for pictures.

I have my BM gifts , personalized for them . Nothing generic . It shows that you actually care and put through into their gifts , instead of a bridal part set . I know my girls loved theirs ☺️

I got my girls all tumblers with their names in their favorite color, scooby snacks (cause we had done a Scooby Doo escape room for my bachelorette) and shirts with personalized icons of women that resemble them with their names in their favorite color. They each got personalized gift boxes to put everything in and black personalized bags with their name and bows in their favorite color as well. They all loved them.

Like most others have said, I've personalized my bridesmaids' gifts to each person. I have gotten them some things for the wedding day, but also they're each getting Something tailored to them. I got 2 of them necklaces inspired after their favorite Disney princess, one a white sapphire bracelet, one a Kate Spade purse, and the last one is going to be a bunch of coffee items because she LOVES coffee.

Bridesmaid gifts are rough. 1/2 of my bridal party yelled at me that I got them anything (because wedding's are already expensive), 1x was mad that I bought them too vague gifts - they would of me rather have me bought them earrings or a necklace to wear in the wedding (I didn't dictate any color/style jewelry) but everyone bought something to specifically match the dress.

The best gifts that they liked the most were: rose gold flip flops, and a rose gold tote to match. I also got them custom wine glasses w/ the style of their dress painted on them and their name etched, and a bottle of their favorite wine, I also bought friends tv show labels that said "the one where you're the bridesmaid", because Friends is my favorite show & it allowed me to customize something for the wedding, & Alex & Ani bangle bracelets that had Bridesmaid or Maid of Honor on it - because it's a bangle bracelet & the majority of my friends wear a bunch.

I agree with this. Give them something individual according to their interests like shopping for their birthday. What are they into? Cooking, sports, movies or music, entertaining, something else?

Yeah...I would not want any of the personalized stuff like wine glasses, tumblers, robes, totes, etc, nor do I want the jewelry for the wedding. But that's what most of these BM/MoH gifts tend to be, so I graciously accept and then immediately donate. Most of my friends do the same and that's why we've started to veer away from this sort of gifting, we've all been BMs enough times to know the drill.

I went through this debate just recently! We landed on: YETI tumblers (personalized with their names & could be for morning of, so in my mind not really a gift), nice flannel shirts from a good company (my 3 all live in cold areas & camp & hike), small items related to each person’s interest (camping, dogs, reading, etc.), & then a framed photo from the wedding (which will be given later).

I’m asking them to wear button downs & black leggings for getting ready, & if they want to wear the flannel they can, but don’t have to. For the wedding day of, I’m paying for one service per person & may decide to pay for both, haha.
