Bridesmaid gifts

Bre & Daniels new adventure, on August 31, 2017 at 4:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Ok I have no clue what topics it would be but I need advice on bridesmaid gifts.... I have a few ideas but my FML is saying it's way to much.... I have a few ideas.

Satin robes that are short and have their initials monogrammed on them

A insulated cup that has their name in it

And a tote that has their name monogrammed on it...yes I was thinking all this together. But I need other brides advice and opinions. If u have other ideas let me know please

See I originally wanted to personalize to each one but I didn't know if that would be weird or stupid

That's a lot of stuff with someone's name on it.

I bought nice canvas bags and filled with various winter items - candle, gloves or fuzzy socks, hot chocolate/regular chocolate/tea, a mug designed with something they'd like, and a few other things escaping me at the moment. It was all stuff I knew they'd like and use.

Also I agree, if you are requiring (or have the idea) that all the girls wear the robes during the getting ready photos, then that is a prop and not a gift. I bought shawls for all the girls to wear in photos and that was not considered a part of the gift.

The last wedding I was in, our gifts were a button up shirt with our initials on it.

I just bought very nice quilted bags on etsy (they were on sale) I monogrammed their initials and I will add a hand towel, and like 2 or 3 lotion products that you can find anywhere. I think that will be it for them.

I've only been in one wedding, she was tight on funds, and I got a simple little bracelet- I don't even wear jewelery but it's the thought that counts, I would have been thrilled to be by her side without a gift..

I didn't realize robes and things were considered props and not gifts, I'd be thrilled to receive those and nothing else.. but that's just my opinion. My bridesmaids will be getting flannel robes, leggings, a piece of jewelry, an engraved glass for the reception (first hour is open bar, after that it's open bar for beer and wine, but a cash bar for liquor, we're making sure the wedding party doesn't pay for any of that) and I'll be getting them each a small box, with a handwritten note, some candies, and small items personal to them.

    Hope this helps a bit!!

Agree with pp that things for the wedding day are more a gift for you than for your wp.

But honestly, my best piece of advice is to tune out your FMIL if she's making comments about what *you* choose to do to show love and appreciation to *your* closest friends. She does not get an opinion on your bridal party gifts.

I think rather than doing three prop gifts maybe do like he robes as a prop gift and get something personalized? Smiley smile

I'm getting my girls a robe and a small bottle of wine and some little odds and ends necessities for their "proposal" boxes. I think the robe is a gift, yes it'll be used at the wedding but they're cute and my girls will reuse them.

Also I disagree with robes or jewelry as a prop. I personally would love to get a robe and/or jewelry. If I didn't spend money on it and was able to keep it, it's a gift in my eyes.

As for a gift after the wedding I'm not sure yet.

ETA - I wouldn't use a personalized water bottle or tote with my name on it. Maybe that's just me though.

Shop like its their birthday. What do they like or enjoy? Favorite restaurant, spa? My one friend loves off the wall jewelry and works in the medical field so anything anatomy related is always a win in her book. Go with their interests in mind.

    I second @FutureMrsK

I'd recommend against all of the personalization unless you are 100% that is everyone's style. I don't like my first name and hate seeing it plastered everywhere and I tend to throw away personalized items. Just a thought for you

I bought these giant diamond wine stoppers with their names engraved on them. Also a bottle of wine to go with it.

I think things for the wedding that can also be used after are ok. I've gotten jewelry twice in weddings. One set was rhinestones that matched our dress that I never wore again, not great gift. Another was a personalized necklace with our names, a pearl, birthstone and a charm of one of our favorite things. Wore the day of and frequently since - great gift.

I got my girls totes to use the day of, but they don't have anything wedding in them so they are great for every day. I got them fall colored pashminas if they want to use the day of, or they all wear them anyway.

I got each of my girls totes and make up bag with their name's. I'm also getting wine glass or tumbler, coffee mug-each with different saying according to each girls personally. And, I got each a bracelet, personalized for each.
