Bridesmaid getting ready shirts?

Danielle, on February 15, 2019 at 1:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I wasn't going to do them. I figured we'd wear what we're comfortable in to get ready, I'm not that interested in the matching look for pictures, and it was another expense for something I didn't know if they'd wear again.

And then my sister/MOH emailed me this morning..."can we get shirts?" And the wedding is 3 weeks from tomorrow.

So regardless of whether we think this is a good idea or not...any suggestions for where to get them, or a particular vendor that can be quick? I've been all over Etsy since her email this morning (work? what work? good thing my boss is out today). Because of course she wants monograms (isn't this everything people say bridesmaids don't want). Lots of cheaper options coming from India, but I don't want to worry about shipping/customs at this point in time. Crazy MOH is offering to pay for them...I haven't even touched on that with her because I don't know if its worth arguing about if we can't find something to order ASAP. Any suggestions ladies?

I would consider robes or even button down pajamas instead of a standard t-shirt. The reason bridesmaids usually wear these is because they don’t have to pull clothing over their heads after their hair and makeup is done. They don’t risk ruining all that work! Etsy is always great for those too. I bought mine for pretty cheap, and they arrived very quickly!

My SIL did oversize button downs from Kohls and then did an iron-on that looked like embroidery of our intiials on the pockets. it looked cute for pics but I was able to take the iron-on off afterward and now I wear the shirt all the time. Maybe that would work for your situation?

    That's a possibility...did she make the iron-on design herself?

Any department store would have button down shirts, possibly some on clearance as the cold weather is ending even. I'm doing button down PJs because I figured they would get more use out of them than a shirt with a monogram (ugh). Check on Amazon even!

This is what I'm doing. You can buy iron paper for your printer and just print out a design. I use to do it a lot when I was younger

I’ll be doing V-necks or tank tops with something printed on them. But do you have a Cricut or know anyone who does? If so, just buy the shirts and iron the monogram on. If not, search Etsy for iron on monograms.

Do you have a link for the button-down PJ’s you bought? I’m still debating what to do (if anything) for this so I’d like to see what you got.

She got them at Michaels or walmart l think. They look like actual raised embroidery and were simple to iron on the pockets!

Maybe try button up men’s shirts and look for someone nearby that does vinyl or maybe iron on letters. Sometimes robes can be expensive and some take a while to ship. I’d look for local people that do vinyl or David’s bridal has robes! Hope this helps! Good luck!

I haven't bought them yet so I don't have a link, just a few options at this point.

I would go on Amazon and pick out something cute that isn't monogrammed, whether it's a button down shirt or robe or pajamas.

I think the idea of a robe or a button down shirt would be better. I know it would be easier to get dressed this way. I will be getting my girls one of those two items and will probably have it customized with an iron on.

Agree with others that button up PJs is a better idea than a shirt. My friend did tank tops for us with our initials monogrammed on them and it was super hard to get them off after hair and makeup.

I'm getting my girls something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/557982414/striped-cotton-pj-set?ref=user_profile&pro=1

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/627787874/bridesmaid-pajamas-set-monogrammed?ref=user_profile&pro=1

I know Etsy has a ton of options but getting something quick could be the tricky part. Maybe pay extra for a rush order?

Thanks for all the ideas ladies!! I did see that Michael's sells iron-on letters that look like embroidery, so I could do that for their initials. And maybe if they can get it off after, that's makes the shirt more useful? Now to find shirts...

I actually just got mine in yesterday. I chose oversized button downs vs t-shirts. Granted I only ordered one for myself and my MOH but it took almost 2 weeks. I got them off Etsy. Realistically, I don't think you have the time to get them unless you can buy the shirts somewhere and find a monogram shop near you and see if you can pay a rush fee. You may be able to buy iron on monograms and do them yourselves if you can find the shirts you want somewhere local.

    Good luck!!!

I'd for sure check out Old Navy, Kohls and Macy's. They have great sales and you can get something cute. I do agree, button down is a great option so it doesn't mess up hair or makeup. I didn't end up ordering these but I had these saved:

I recommend getting button down shirts because I’ve seen women ruin their hair and makeup putting on/taking off shirts.
