Bridesmaid Flower Crowns

kyla, on January 19, 2018 at 12:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

So I am buying my girls robes, but during the ceremony I wanted to give them something they each could wear so I think I am going to make them each flower crowns, ideas? It will be spring time and my colors will be Tiffany Blue and everyone will be in boots!Smiley ring

That would be pretty. My friend gave us each a flower hair comb to wear. Just another idea! Just make sure that whatever you choose their hairstyles will look good with it.

That's an interesting idea! You may want to check that no one has allergies (or at least take some meds beforehand). Perhaps use smaller flowers to make them a little more subtle so you don't have a weird mix of Boho and country going on.

I was going to use faux flowers that way they can keep them, and I was going to use babys breath.

Unless you are having a boho out in the wildflowers field wedding, I don't get the flower crowns. Do your BM' s normally wear a flower crown when they are dressed up for a social event?

When I am wedding planning, I constantly remind myself that I don't have to do everything I see on Pinterest.

Just know that both robes and flower crowns do not count as your bridesmaid gift if they are intended to be worn in your wedding. Nothing wrong with supplying them for your girls but they should be given something else that doesn't have anything to do with your wedding.

Also if you are requiring boots, make sure you are covering the cost of them if your girls don't own them already.

Personally I would hate wearing a flower crown as a bridesmaid, especially after I just spend $250 to have my hair & makeup professionally done. If they aren't done right they fall off your head or pull out your hair. I've never liked the fad of it, it looks ridiculous on me, and it makes me feel childish like I'm playing dress up. My flowergirl will wear one because she's 6.

I'd maybe go the hair comb route since the hairdresser can incorporate that into the style they choose. Is this part of your "bridesmaid gift" to them? Then it should really be something that you pick out for their personal preferences/tastes vs a photo op....something like a nice pair of earrings or a necklace that they'd actually wear again. Especially if you already got them robes to wear for your getting ready photos.

I love flower crowns (not that I would wear them myself), but I do think of it as something for people who are quite young to wear. If your bridesmaids are all teens/early 20s, it could work, esp. if you are having a wedding in the woods. Otherwise, I like them on flower girls.

Nikki, isn't $250 for hair and makeup an awful lot? Do you live in a big city where costs are that high? Yikes.

Yeah I live in Orange County, CA. The going price for the hair/MUA to come to your hotel is ~$150-200/per person plus tip & possibly travel fees and up to $250 if you want airbrush & false eyelashes. I'm spending $200 + tip for my friends wedding in March and then probably $250 + tip for my wedding in May. I might use her hair/mua girl so I can use her wedding as the "trial" to cut costs haha.

ETA: I'm spending almost $100 on Sunday to get a shampoo & blowout for my engagement photos and it literally pains me to think about it haha

I love flower crowns and wore one for my wedding, but I don't think they are for everyone. They are hard to wear, as another PP mentioned, and you really have to plan your hair style around it. I personally liked how I looked in mine, but until I had my trial where we played around with one, I wasn't sure how it would look. I would talk to your BMs to see if they are even interested, and if so, give it to them ahead of time so they can practice their hairstyle with it.

I'm pretty sure if I was asked to wear a flower crown and it was mandatory I would step down. I look like a moron in them. Make sure your girls are okay with this before you go head first into it.
