Bridesmaid dresses

Bryanna, on November 12, 2021 at 2:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So I have had my colors picked out for my wedding since I was a kid. I always knew I wanted a very summery wedding. With light pink, sage, white and touches of gold. Now my girls went shopping and pink WASHED out of maid of honor and now I don't know what to do... I do not want her to look like a ghost but also I wanted pink. What should I do? Change colors? Like sage dresses or idk.

Could just your MOH wear a different color dress (if the light pink looked good on everyone else)? She could do a darker shade of pink, or a gold dress. That way, she gets to wear a color that looks good on her, and she can also stand out as your MOH.

I agree with Lisa, let your MOH try a darker shade of pink.

Another vote for a darker, maybe dusty shade of pink? Either for just her or for everyone?

Darker shade of pink sound good sound good or you could try the sage - green could look good on them. Maybe you could try both before you make your final decision. Smiley smile

First, props to you for caring how your MOH looks and feels, and not just sticking her in an unflattering dress because it's what you picked out.

Unfortunately, there is no color that looks universally flattering on every single person. Even neutrals and basics like black or white can look better on some complexions than others.

Fortunately, pink is one of the easiest shades to mix-and-match because there are so many variations of pink that work for all different skin colors and undertones and many of those shades look really good together. I wanted mismatched shades of dusty pink/dusty rose for my wedding but myself and my MOH are both quite fair and the color that was most similar to what I wanted on the rack washed her out. So we looked around and found a very similar color with slightly more coral undertones that still went with all the other pinks we had selected, but she looked a lot more "alive" in it.

If you have to have a perfectly matching look, you might struggle to find a single color that flatters all your girls (depending on how many bridesmaids you have and how different their complexions are). But if you give them the freedom to do mismatched looks, I'm pretty certain you can find softer shades of pink that work for everyone. Your girls with tan or olive skin can be in more blush tones, while those with fairer skin can be in slightly darker rose tones.

Also consider whether your MOH's skin tone is likely be the same shade at your actual wedding. My MOH goes tanning due to a skin condition she says it helps with, and she tans more in the warmer months when she wears shorter sleeves and clothes that expose her skin more. We went dress shopping in January, but my wedding was in late May. So she was planning on tanning for my wedding and factored that in to her pick. To be clear, I am not recommended you suggest she tan, but if you know that is something she's likely to do on her own, just make sure you are considering it when looking at colors.

Also, all of your wedding colors sound lovely, so you could easily put her in any of them if one is most flattering on her.

I commend you for caring about your MOH‘s feelings and finding a way to make her look great and feel comfortable on your wedding day. It’s common to have your MOH in a different color or a shade of dress. Maybe have her try on dresses in a dark pink. If that doesn’t work, she could wear sage also. Sage and pink dresses look great together! I will include some photos for inspo….
