Bridesmaid Dresses....Why is it so hard for me to find one??????

~~Bride to Be~~, on September 3, 2009 at 5:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Okay as most of you know my wedding is in May and while it seems like far away the months are quickly sailing by. So to prevent a last minute breakdown,I am trying to find my girls bridesmaid's dresses now. I have searched David'd bridal and a couple of online sites but still havent found anything to catch my eye. I really want to take a mini vacation from wedding planning during the holidays so I can enjoy my family. Am I the only person having this issue? We are having an outdoor ceremony so I'd prefer a dress less formal if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well getting ideas online is a good way to do it, find a place that has a few possibles. But what I ended up doing was taking my girls to the shop and having them try stuff on. There were things that we never would have picked out from the pictures that were amazing when we saw others trying them on. And there were also things that I really liked in the pictures but looked bad on the girls! After all, if it looks bad on the girls then your pics will look bad also.

FutureMrs.Schmidt...Thanks! I will take a look at the dessy site.

Knoichiwa..I was starting to think the same thing about having them go with me to the shop to try on different styles. Its like part of me is saying its too early to shop for dresses then I just have a gut feeling that I should go ahead and start the search now so everything will be in place.

Lots of the dress shops say that it can take up to 12 weeks to get the dresses in. Thats 3 months! I don't think there is anything wrong with starting now. That way if you don't find a dress you like, you still have time to look!

Also it's good to have some of your girls go with you. I had both mine go and it seemed like it should have been easy but if it looked good on one then it seemed to look bad on the other (different body types) but we finally found one that was becoming on both! It was a completely different style than I was originally looking at too!

I'm right there with you. I want short dresses for my bridesmaids so they can re-wear them after the wedding. I haven't found many dresses I love though and that would look good on all of them. I'd suggest going with your bridesmaids to a local wedding dress shop and looking through the racks. That way they can try stuff on and you can get a bit of everyone's input instead of doing it on your own.

I made it easy on myself and my crew. I told them the basics (straight skirt, satin, strapless, no rhinestones except for the MoH) and the colors and told them they can do anything that fits those criteria - subject to "final approval" of course Smiley winking

This is the best website and you do not need to look any further. If you decide to find a store that have it then just look up the designer information and stores. www.perfect-bridesmaid-dresses.com

They have everything. This is where I am going to order my Bridesmaid dresses at. Good luck/

OMG you guys are great. Trust that I will be looking at all of these sites tonight. I had planned on going to a bridal shop in a neighboring city tommmorow morning but looks like I'm going to take your advice (post by post) and see exactly whats what. I really didnt want to give them free reign to find whatever dress because its sometimes hard for me to tell someone no. One question for grlbtful, when the dress came was it comparable with the quality of dresses that you saw in the actual bridal shops...for example the stitching and quality of the material?

I had the same problem with finding my girls' dresses. I looked everywhere! either they weren't short enough or the material was all wrong. I suggest at least going to bridal shops and trying on dresses so that way you know what you like. I ended up getting their dress online at newportnews.com. its just a simple catalog shop but i found the perfect dress for cheap! just search around on non-traditional sites also.

I have found that doing a type of sepreate top and skirt look good. I found mine at this site http://www.alfredangelostores.com/Company/75thAnniversaryHome.aspx look under the bridsmaids area to the dream in color area then there is a place to create your own. That is what I did for a spring outdoor wedding..
