Bridesmaid Dresses - Dye Lots

Larry, on September 22, 2017 at 1:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I'm doing some early planning and prepping. I've been looking into bridesmaid dresses, and the salon I bought my dress from is recommending all bridesmaid dresses be ordered at the same time because of dye lots. Has anyone had issues with dye lots? I've been looking at Bill Levkoff dresses through a bridal salon or ordering dresses from Azazie. If there was an issue with dye lots, how noticeable was it?

I didn't chance it. I ordered all the dresses at once off Etsy for my girls. I collected their measurements and money and placed the order myself at the recommendation of the dress maker, to avoid any dye lot issues.

I used to sell bridesmaids dresses and we always said to order at once in the same dye lot. While I never saw an order where this happened, I have seen dresses ordered months apart (samples) that look completely different. Again, this is also in part because the sample is tried on. But most brides thought these two dresses we had were different and they weren't. If you can get them in at the same time, I HIGHLY recommend it. But don't lose sleep over it or anything

I had my girls order their dresses on their own from Nordstrom. While I encouraged them to buy before a certain date, which they all did, I didn't make them order online together. I didn't notice any difference in color. I had them order from nordys because of return policy (you can actually return these specific dresses) whereas at the bridesmaid shop I went to you could not. Are dye lots a thing, yes, did I lose sleep over it, no. I knew if it was a noticeable enough issue my photographer would have edited accordingly.

Dye lot variations are super noticeable in carpeting, so I am going to assume it is that way across-the-board, including bridesmaid dresses. I would order all at the same time just to be safe.

My BMs were all located in different states and ordered theirs all at different times (different styles all by Alfred Angelo). One found the dress she wanted in her size on eBay in September, one ordered in November, one ordered in December, and one ordered in January. I didn't notice any deviation in color.

Of course AA isn't really an option, anymore...

I was in a wedding where we all wore Azazie dresses and all ordered the same color at separate times. I didn't notice a difference at all.

I got Mori Lee dresses about two months apart, because I ended up adding a bridesmaid. I didn't notice a difference, but the store did tell me to order them together!! I could have just gotten lucky...so I would definitely order together if possible.

Thanks everyone! I'm looking to do a maroon/Cabernet similar to what @emily just posted! My bridesmaids will be from all over the place (including out of the country) so I've been trying to think things out early

The two on each end ordered theirs from the same bridal store at the same time (Dessy was the designer). The other three ordered their dresses on the internet at super discounted prices so they were probably knock offs. I couldn't tell a difference between colors. The lining of the dresses however, were extremely different.

I'm not chancing it, all of my bridesmaids dresses were ordered at the same time. While it may not be visible to the naked eye it will show up on pictures

All of my BM dresses were ordered at the same time because of this.
