Bridesmaid dresses, different colors & different styles- what are your thoughts?

Isabelle, on July 12, 2019 at 5:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Our wedding colors are bahama blues, as in the color of the water in the bahamas - so like all hues of blue, turquoise, aqua, navy. I'm thinking it would be fun to have my bridesmaid each wear a different color of blue or turquoise, with my two sisters in the lightest hues. with them all being in different blues, would they still look uniform if thempick their dress? I still want them to look like their my crew and not just guests in blue dresses at the wedding. Should I maybe select 10 dresses that have the same fabric or stye and let them pick from those so that they look similar? I just know my bridal party and there is no way I'll get them to all agree on a dress. I'll likely be purchasing the dress as their gift so I also want them to feel pretty in it and want to rewear it in the future. So what do yall think about bridesmaids in different colors and styles?

I was in a wedding that had different colors and it turned out pretty well. It was a garden wedding so the bride wanted springtime colors. She assigned us a color to make sure we didn't double up anywhere. We were just asked to keep either the length or the style similar to have some sort of cohesion.

I think all different would be fine as long as there are some guidelines (i.e. length, or making sure they're not from strapless to long sleeve, etc.) but overall different colors and dresses could be beautiful! Maybe assign a color, as Courtney suggested, so that you don't end up with 3 in navy and only one in aqua

This is what we did. Everyone got their own shade of blush/mauve and we gave them guidelines (long, chiffon) and let them choose their own styles. If you decide to do this, my only advice is to assign a shade for each girl instead of giving them free reign to choose their own so that you don’t have more than one person in the same color.

What I’m planning to do is select a color for the girls and then let them pick out the style they want with my approval. The only one who will be in a different color is my MOH.

I'm all for mismatched BM dresses! I think it makes photos more personal rather than staged!

I let my girls pick their dresses from azazie, I just gave them a color and length and let them get what they felt comfortable with. It worked out great & I love the look of mismatchy dresses!

I love mismatched dresses too. But I’d set some guidelines, like choose color options and style options from the same company (David’s Azazie) and then let them choose from your list.

For my wedding I'm doing Infinity dresses that the skirt is all the same length but the top my girls can tie in a style that is comfortable for them. They are all wearing sky blue.

My bridesmaids were in a gradient of different pinks with different dresses. It does look pretty nice and uniform enough when the colors are close together

I tried to have my bridesmaids in different shades of blue. They decided they wanted to coordinate and match. It was fine with me, as long as they’re comfortable in their dresses. I think different shades of blues would be gorgeous tho!

I'm doing different shades of green and my sis-in-law had us in different colors and different dresses, and it worked perfectly. Just make sure you line them up or order swatches to make sure the colors work. I'm getting mine from Bella Bridesmaids but was going to go with Dessy Group if I went with another shade of green.
