Bridesmaid dress

Melissa, on April 30, 2017 at 3:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I got my girls bridesmaid dresses from David’s bridal, they were clearance. One of the girls (a late add in) is normally a size 12/14 and the only size left of the dress in my color is a 10 (& it runs small).. I'm trying to research letting a dress out. It's a very float dress so to me I think it'd be doable but has anyone had experience with it before? (Letting a dress out and possibly going from zipper to corset back?) & know of a round about expense? Thanks in advance Smiley smile

All I know is that it's easier to take a dress in than to let it out.

I'd speak with a seamstress about this. They'd know what it is or isn't doable.

It will only work if there is enough material in the seam area to let out. You need to speak with a seamstress ASAP. Make sure you have a dress in hand to show them. Good luck.

One of my bridesmaids tried on a 10 but is ordering a 14. There was no way that the 10 would fit her even if they let it out. Even though she is in the process of getting back in shape for her own wedding, she has no desire to order anything other than a 14.

I ageee it is easier to take a dress in than let it out.

That doesn't help your predicament though. There are several places that have similar dresses as davids bridal. Look at azazie or even jj house (sell knock Off designer dresses including DB)They should have something very similar in the same color.

The David's Bridal bridesmaids dresses don't actually have any extra fabric to let out!

Your saying it runs small but it's a very "float" dress. I'm assuming you mean loose fitting. Even so, if the 10 runs small there's no possible way it can be let out enough to fit a 14 or 16. Try to find it used on posh mark or ebay

Thanks everyone! We'll have extra fabrics from 2 of the other dresses and I'm even totally fine with adding a black lace fabric (the color dress is dark purple).. but good to know! She's still loosing weight (baby weight & quickly) but I just want to cover bases and research everything. I did message a seamstress and going to try to go to her this week with another dress prior to ordering ...& I never knew about posh mark but I'm looking it up now Smiley smile thanks

A friend of mine had a pregnant bridesmaid. Since we, the bridesmaids, wore long dresses, they we're able to cut enough off the bottle to make a corset back to fit her belly.

Thanks lanette, I do have a pregnant bridesmaid also but hopefully her dress is good as she is due a month before and we ordered a little bigger than her normal size Smiley smile
