Bridesmaid dress searching with covid 19

Hithere, on October 31, 2020 at 11:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
How are you all going about having your bridesmaids pick out their dresses with covid 19 going on?

Originally I wanted to do a group thing where we go to the store together but that’s no longer an option. So I was going to have everyone come to my home and try sample dresses on from Kennedy blue but now some bridesmaids aren’t comfortable being around the others with covid 19 going on and tbh I’m even a little nervous because some of the bridesmaids aren’t taking covid 19 as seriously as others so I don’t know if I even feel comfortable being around them. I don’t know how to make everyone happy including myself and to make sure they all get the right dresses picked out and me as the bride have a chance to see them all together.

I opted out of having bridesmaids. Many are ordering "regular" dresses online.

Okay thank you! I was thinking the same thing because at this point with the guidelines my state has I don’t even know what our wedding will be like. For all I know it could be super small.

Ordering from a website like Azazie would be an excellent option in your case!

I really liked Azazie. You can order sample colors, and make a virtual show room of all the dresses you like for the girls to see. They’re super reasonably priced as well, and offer returns if the size they ordered doesnt fit (unless it’s a custom size and then returns aren’t allowed!)

I’ve decided to let my bridesmaids chose the style they want as long as it’s red. My sister (MOH) will be wearing a burgundy & the other 2 will wear red. My sister found an infinity dress on amazon for $30.

My bridesmaids got their dresses from Azazie, since they live all around the country and I couldn't get everyone together to go shopping. It was easy for everyone to pick out their favorite styles, add styles to the showroom, and discuss their favorites. I think this option might work well for your scenario.

Look on Azazie and see if there are any styles you like. Your bridesmaids can order samples and try them on at home. If you wanted to do it safely as a group, you could do a try on zoom party.

My bridesmaids are getting theirs from Azazie, I just asked them to indicate which style. Then I made a secret Pinterest board and pinned all of the dresses so I could see how they would look together. I decided this before Covid, as people live far apart.

I do wonder how you're going to pull off a wedding if people aren't comfortable coming to your home/leaving their home, however. That seems like it would be difficult.

We are still going about our original plans. We are all going to the bridal shop and looking for the bridesmaids dresses together. My bridesmaids and I aren't to worried about covid 19. We are being more careful than we were before covid, but it is one of those things where we are still going to live our lives, we just have extra steps to take.

Just my opinion, I don't know when you are getting married, but if you guys are afraid to be around each other to look at dresses then how are you guys going to feel at a wedding with let's say 50 to 100 people I'm not sure how many people you are inviting just a rough estimate. And it isn't going to be a guarantee that everyone at your wedding will be taking the same precautions as you. You will most likely have some people very cautious about the disease and taking all the precautions in the world and then you will have people who you'll be lucky if they wear a mask and wash their hands after using the rest room. This disease isn't going anywhere, and I can guarantee you that by the time your wedding gets here not much will have changed and if it does it isn't going to be for the better.
If you want to make the girls feel better maybe send them pictures of the dresses and have them pick out their favorite with using the pictures, then have them one at a time come over to try on the top picks.

I agree with others about how awesome Azazie is. The quality, price, customer service, etc., is far superior to David's Bridal. Generally, their order to delivery window is about a month. If you decide to go with Azazie, "shopping" for dresses suddenly becomes an issue you can easily postpone for several months, giving yourselves some time to see if things get better with Covid by early spring. If so, you could order samples and do your planned try-on party; if not, BM's could order their favorite dress for try-on at home and you could to a virtual party. Or, each of them can just order their dress independently (choosing from various styles you select or a single dress you select or anything that works with your preferred color/length/fabric). Daughter's BMs were scattered all over the country. She ordered a few dresses to try on herself, choose one, and then let them know. Four of the five ordered custom sizes (no extra cost & saves on alterations). All dresses were delivered within 4-weeks, and they all looked great. When they all met for the first time at the wedding, they matched perfectly.... It's always been a great option and seems to be even more so during the pandemic. Good luck!

As many others have said, we are doing Azazie. I was hoping to go to a store with all of my bridesmaids as well but the limit of people and the decreased time limits placed on everyone is going to be too hard, so we are going to order some samples and have a little try on get together. I told my bridesmaids that anyone who is uncomfortable right now coming to a get together can just order the samples at home and we can do like a FaceTime or something or I can go to them, just me, vs. the group. All of mine were comfortable being around each other so we decided after the holidays we will pick a date and that’s what we’ll do! We have time but at the same time I didn’t want to wait too long to look so I love that azazie has a ton of options and are quick to ship.

I am just having them all go to the store on their own, I gave them the color from Davids Bridal and they are free to pick out their own style

I wanted a coordinated mismatched look for my bridesmaids, so after doing lots of searching on Etsy, Amazon, Azazie and a few other websites, I sent all of my girls an email with a ton of choices and had them let me know their top choices. I then "assigned" each girl the dress to purchase. Only one of my bridesmaids was local, so shopping as a group was never an option. This worked seamlessly and the dresses looked great.

I was able to go with my girls one by one. Everyone had a different schedule which luckily for me I was able to make every one. Luckily each of my girls including the ones living 1-2 hours away devoted time to come and get fitted. I chose the dresses out and picked their colors and gave two options for their different body types. The place we got the dresses required masks and only had us in the store at the time of appointment, no one else. I did have to order them back in August for a May 1, 2021 wedding. They suggest that due to overseas shipping being delayed. If you can go somewhere that has the dresses in stock or quick delivery go that route.

Hmm..I see your dilemma. I'm going bridesmaid dress shopping in December for my 8/14/2021 wedding. They're only allowing a group of four into all teh bridal salons i've called and that includes the Bride herself. My mother and MOG have been with me through this entire planning process, so I intend on keeping them with me being that both my fiance and I are close to our mothers and they give great advice. I use to work in a Bridesmaids Boutique in Manhattan, NY. If i learned anything it's too many opinions creates chaos. Every girl has an insecurity and a preference, we tell the brides to keep the group small for each appointment.

I created groups for my bridesmaids' body types. Long/Thin, Short/Petite, Medium/Curvy. One of each girl fits into a group. Then looked up trending silhouettes that would compliment all body types, or a body type. Im in limbo on whether or not to allow different styles and the same color or just do the same style and color for all girls. My sister(Long/Thin) and I(Short Petite) will be the models the first appointment as we look for a dress(s). When we narrow down what we want for the entire party, we will assign style numbers. The girls can go in on their own schedule to try the dress, express any concerns..then they will place their order (within time frame)when all is well. You all can have a dress pickup day where you all come together (closer to the wedding date) and see everyone in their dress..by then they have to be okay with group gatherings, they're in a wedding.

Pick a color on Cocomelody or Azazie and have them try them on at home.

While I personally prefer a brick and mortar store to try on all options, my MoH on the other side of the country is the type who abhors clothing shopping in person so that option would work best for her, regardless of the pandemic.

I chose Birdy Grey for my bridesmaids' dresses. They have a section on their site called a 'Bridal Salon. You send an invite to your bridal party to join the salon, and from there each one can choose what dresses are their favorites. The bride can also request specific designs and colors the girls have to follow by. My only guideline is that the dress must be a certain color. I then favorited a handful of dresses that I liked the style of so the girls can see what look I'm going for.
