Bridesmaid dress material

K. T., on April 6, 2020 at 10:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hello! All the shops are closed, so I'm trying to pick bridesmaids dresses online, but have no idea what fabric. Looking for something that won't wrinkle super easy, or is at least easy to get wrinkles out of. I know rayon is out of the question, but any suggestions? Personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

All of our BM dresses were chiffon and we had no wrinkling issues.

I think you can still buy samples of fabrics/ colors online. I know you can with Azazie. I went with chiffon, I think it's flattering for all shapes and sizes. Especially if they can pick there own and you just give them certain parameters such as length, color, fabric type.

Yeah, I'm letting them choose within the same fabric/color. I did get sample swatches, but they don't demonstrate the wrinkle factor 😕

I went with Chiffon for my bridesmaids. It does wrinkle a bit coming from the package. However it steams easy. Since they were all shipped to my house, I hung them in that bathroom and gave them a good steam shower. Mostly for the smell. The soft wrinkles are gone. The dresses just needs a good steam to get out the hard folded creases from being compressed in bag.

Like others have posted, Chiffon is very flattering on most body types and great for Spring and Summer weddings. Another type of fabric we liked was the stretch crepe (I think that's how you spell it). These dresses were more form fitting and personally I would choose this fabric for a fall or winter wedding. Even on my BM's who had bigger bottoms, the fabric went on like Spanx but not tight at all. Very comfortable and easy to move in. Good luck!

We got our from David’s bridal they were a mesh fabric. Doesn’t wrinkle at all and are stretchy! Huge plus. The chiffon we tried on were really wrinkly so was satin. The tulle was itchy. I vote the mesh or a lace

Gotcha. I'm not sure where you are ordering from, but you could get sample dresses from Azazie to see if they are what you want for different types of fabric. Then you can see an entire dress. As far as I know they are still doing the sample dress program.

Avoid crepe if you are worried about wrinkles. Mine is crepe and I love it, but I know after travel to our destination I will have lots of steaming to do!

My bridesmaids are getting theirs from Birdy Grey.
One of them already received hers and it’s a mesh fabric. She said it doesn’t wrinkle
