Bridesmaid dress dead line.

Emma, on June 16, 2020 at 1:45 PM Posted in Planning 1 16
My bridesmaids are all ordering their dresses from azazie.com. I am letting them pick their own dress as long as the color, fabrics, and length is what I’ve decided on. Only one of my bridesmaids ( my sister) has tried on a dress and picked hers. Though, She hasn’t hit ordered it yet. 2 of my other bridesmaids have at least looked at the site and found a few they like. The last bridesmaid, I have not heard from since March. I sent an email about being able to decide on their own dress may 28th and still nothing. I have offered to pay for 2 try on dresses for each bridesmaid but only my sister has taken me up on that offer.
Now my questions.
1) what should the “deadline” be to get their dresses? I would prefer everyone had their dress by September 1st (October 3rd wedding) is that reasonable? 2) for the MIA bridesmaid, when do I send her another message? We used to be roommates but then she moved in with her Boyfriend and I haven’t heard from her since. 3) is there a polite way to say, I need to know you have your dress by September 19th (2 weeks before the wedding) or you won’t be a bridesmaid? I know that sou da really harsh, I need to find a way that it’s nicer.

Just reach out to her and ask her directly if she still wants to be a part of your wedding, keeping in mind times are tough with Covid and maybe she's financially struggling and too embarrassed to ask for monetary help.

Wanting them to have it by september seems reasonable to me but be mindful that at the end of the day as long as they get their dresses by your wedding, that's what matters - even if it's via rush production or a used dress that matches what you want.

because i've realized we can remind them as many times as we want but it's still up to them to do it.

How far is Azazie out on production time? I had a bridesmaid order hers from Azazie in late May for our late July wedding, and it arrived on time. I wasn't super pushy with deadline. If they didn't get a dress, they wouldn't be a bridesmaid and that was up to them.

All of my girls got their dresses from Azazie and I gave them a deadline of the wedding day. Some of the girls didn’t order till a month before but I never followed up because they were all adults and they all had a dress on the day of the wedding.

I know they all can do it themselves it’s just, from my knowledge, they haven’t decided on a dress or tried any on. I definitely am keeping an on of the est delivery dates for each state though.

You haven’t talked to that bridesmaid at all, or just about the wedding? I’d give her a call to talk (not about the dress) to get a feel for how she’s been doing in general. It’ll give you some insight into where her head is at and might serve as a reminder to get the dress without making you seem pushy!

Just about wedding stuff! We’ve talked on and off but with job changes and the move we definitely don’t talk nearly as much.

Gotcha. I just didn’t want another thing to micromanage and I know when I’ve been a bridesmaid I hated when brides would check up on me about the dress.

My girls ordered their dresses from Azazie and most arrived within 4-6 weeks.

I would check the current lead time and just let the girls know. You could also bring up the conversation of dresses by letting them know which dress your sister has chosen so they don't choose the same one? Otherwise, I wouldn't push the issue to hard. I just told my girls to make sure they had their dresses by my wedding day.

I would wait a couple months to give them a new deadline. I think you should have plenty of time, and some people just procrastinate but they will probably still get it done

Only 2 of my 9 bridesmaids ordered "try on" dresses. The others just ordered in their size and got it altered if needed.

None of daughter's five BMs ordered dresses to try on from Azazie. They just ordered them and they arrived 4 weeks later (4 of 5 did custom sizing). You can let this stress you out or just accept the fact that they are grown women and will either have their dresses on time or they'll attend as guests. I know you want everything to be all settled, but you can't really "force" them to do anything unless you are paying for their dresses. You can threaten to kick them out if they don't have their dress by a date of your choosing, but there is good chance that will cause drama and bad feelings (and actually kicking them out will probably end your friendship). Yes, as a BM, the one requirement is that they have the dress you've asked them to get, but they don't actually need it till the wedding.... I'm sorry.

I didn't receive my bridesmaids dress until a week before my best friends wedding. She asked me about it, I told her I had it covered, that was that. I would never let her down, and she trusted me. I was in the middle of a weight-loss journey and she was really understanding. It was good I waited because I ended up getting a size smaller.

Hi! I think you might want to do your date as the middle/beginning of August if not before. Custom dresses from Azazie can take 12 weeks and regular size dresses can take over a month and if they need any alterations that’s going to take more time! I am getting married October 10th and all of my girls have their dresses already but are waiting for alterations since some of them want to lose weight before the final fittings(:

Do you mean have them order by august or have their dress by august?
