Bridesmaid dress conundrum..

Kat, on January 11, 2020 at 12:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I'm trying to decide color combinations for my bridesmaids, I'm doing mismatched colored dresses and am trying to balance them with my fiance's shirt, after staring at everything for a solid hour my brain hurts and I need some opinions before I make a final decision. I have 5 brides maids so one color may have to be repeated. The middle picture is similar to what he will be wearing. Thanks!Bridesmaid dress conundrum.. 1

    Hi Kat,
I'm getting my bridesmaids dresses from jjshouse, style 105912, if you click on the color box, it will bring up all the color choices, most of their dresses come in about 40 colors, so lot's of options, good luck!

Is this a Christmas Wedding? If so, I love the greens. If not, I think the light green or yellow would need to work. The red seems like way too much for me.

I agree that the red is too much. I think the first option without the red is best. You could have 2 bridesmaids repeat colors which might actually look more cohesive.

It's not a Christmas wedding but more of a fall themed wedding. But I see your point

Unlike some of these posters I like the red, but red was one of my wedding colors and what my bridesmaids worn. Have you asked your bridesmaids their opinions? I personally like the the third and fourth ones the best.

I think there is a lot going on with all those colors.... The tones that seem the most discordant to me are the orangey-reds (I'm okay with the cranberry reds and the muted greens). I'd get rid of the orange/reds completely, and if you keep the gold, I'd use it very minimally as an accent color in the florals, etc. With the plaid shirts, personally, I'd narrow your color palette for the rest of the wedding. I've seen the range of fall colors look nice together, but generally with solid/neutral clothing on the men. So, if you really want the golds/oranges/reds/greens, I'd choose a white or black shirt, or a gray suit, etc. A plaid shirt (and especially more than one of them, even if they all match) is pretty bold, so I'd want to make sure the other colors support/harmonize with the plaid -- you want it to look cohesive, especially in photos.

This is kinda what I had invisioned with the girls, but the guys would be wearing white/off white or grey shirts with plaid bowties that matches whichever girls dress they're walking with if that makes sense... The only one wearing the red plaid would be my fiance's because he insists on it. Then the flowers are all sunflowers and roses, it's an outdoor wedding in the middle of a forest with a little cottage on the property. (The girls are picking out their dresses too many different body types for one dress to work hence the different dresses)Bridesmaid dress conundrum.. 5

I think this is a pretty vision, but when you throw in his request for the plaid shirt, I think it gets overwhelming pretty fast. If the one thing he's really asking for is the plaid shirt, I'd go for it, but then rein in some of the rest -- a narrower color palette for the girls (especially if they are all choosing their own style dress), maybe skipping the different plaid ties on the other guys (maybe go with solid color ties), etc. Sunflowers alone are a fairly bold design element (beautiful, but they are big and bold...no doubt). They could be your single "golden yellow" accent in a mix of cranberry and various greens. Good luck!
