Bridesmaid dress color

Kelly, on March 23, 2022 at 8:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 5 14
I find this forum has been helpful before. I’m still struggling to pull together my single bridesmaid.
my dress is attached and I’m not sure it looks good at all with this color blue (in the other photo the blue to the right called Romantic blue)beside it. I feel like it makes my dress look yellow. I think maybe asking my my mom , aunt and friend has made me doubt my decisions more because they all disagree. I thought this blue looked good with a navy suit but one person disagrees and another says do a black suit. The third person says this blue does nothing for my dress and I kind of agree. I also don’t think a lighter blue would help. I am thinking jewel tones like emerald, cranberry, rosewood would be better they just aren’t my fave. I’m also worried because the swatches in person from reverly look nothing like the dress color online. I’m afraid I’ll order it and won’t know until days before if it looks like I think. I am also then blindly picking a suit since I won’t have the bridesmaid dress with me as my sister lived back east and so until she gets it neither of us knows truly what the color will look like in a full dress. My dress is two tones more Ivory on top with sandy beige undertone. I just think blue makes it appear more butter yellow like which I isn’t going to help my complexion. advise? The classic emerald color from reverly is also lovely but again hard to tell from the photos what it will look like. Bridesmaid dress color 1

The good thing about Revelry is you and all your bridesmaids can try them on at home for $15-20ish per address. Ask customer service if you can try on the colors you are interested in and any other concerns you have.

My bridesmaids ordered from Revelry, and in my experience the swatches were really accurate. You could also order one of the mega swatches they offer if you want something g larger to compare things to.

Personally, I think the Romantic Blue color is lovely, doesn’t make your dress look yellow at all, and would look very nice next to a dark navy suit

Thank you Taylor! I wonder if anyone has recommendations on where to get the right color navy suit. Men’s wharehouse doesn’t have many options in blue. I have the groom here in Seattle but the best man in CA so was hoping for a place where they could both be measured and see it in person.

Here to agree! This is a beautiful combo.

My girls are wearing Revelry's French Blue (or the equivalent from Birdy Grey/Azazie) and FH is wearing a navy suit and it looks perfect in person!

Keep in mind the differences in lighting in those pictures. In the picture of your wedding dress: you're inside, the light from the window is blue, the lights inside might have a yellowish hue

and the picture of the bridesmaid dress is: in a well-lit studio, controlled light hues to give the dress it's most natural color to sell it.
I don't think the blue makes your dress look yellow at all. It's like the blue-black/white-gold dress from a few years back, the lighting will play tricks on you.

Since I can't edit on mobile: if like to add that if you're concerned about your dress looking yellow, minimize any pure white- including in your husband's attire. For example, my dress was ivory, my husband wore a white shirt and an ivory tie. Standing next to him, it's easy to see my dress is darker than his shirt, but matches his tie. Likewise, you may want your husband in an ivory shirt, or a white shirt with ivory accessoriesBridesmaid dress color 4

Thank you Samantha! I loved the French blue as well but felt it was too light next to my dress. It’s one of my fave colors in general. I bet it will look amazing on your bridal party! Trying to find the perfect navy suit right now as I feel like the nationwide chains have limited versions or deepness of navy.

Another thing to keep in mind is that as a bride we tend to be overly critical of minute details. Guests don’t notice them at all unless they are glaringly bold and dramatic. Most people from a non-bride viewpoint don’t see white vs ivory vs color as an issue , even when everything is side by side.

Hey Mattie: how did you get all 3 photos sides by side? I am horrible with tech stuff. I want to also see the classic emerald color in there since it’s the other color I like but, but not sure how you did that.
