Bridesmaid colors

Ace, on April 2, 2021 at 8:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Trying to decide which color palette to pick for bridesmaid dresses.

We want to do a gradient of colors.

Here are the colors next to a shot of my dress color.

Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

The only way to tell is for bridesmaids to try on colors to see what is most flattering. Many ladies would never be able to wear those colors without looking washed out.

Both are very pretty, and go well with your dress- but like PP said, it might depend on the women wearing the dresses.

Thanks! We're ordering the dresses with custom measurements online and getting needed alterations when they arrive so they, unfortunately, can't try on the colors before the wedding as they need to order the dresses in time for them to arrive before the wedding, and most of them live far away. :/ Was curious if anyone thought one gradient looked more cohesive than the other. I was leaning toward the first one and my fiance likes the second one. (:

I agree with the others. I think you are going to need to see the colors on your girls. Depending on skin tone certain colors simply won't work unless you want your bridesmaids to look washed out.

Is it a spring wedding? Early or late season?

It's in late June, so early summer.

I almost like the second one more for the timing of the year- but the first one has good variety and I like that it’s further from your dress color.

I do have another color one shade darker in the second photo's color range, so maybe I could do that and take the lightest shade out. I've had a few others suggest that idea. I think you have a good point with the season, since it's almost a spring wedding that color variety matches the season better (:

Thank you, everyone's input is very helpful since I'm so indecisive!

That sounds like a great way to do it! Getting a little more space in the gradient will help a lot (not that the color is bad!)
I’m an early June wedding and while the colors are lilac and navy we’ve actually toned back on the navy a lot for a more denim color. It’s just ‘fresher’ feeling to us.
I told my bridesmaids ‘purple’ and short since it’s June- but that was it and they were so unhappy with me lol. I just kept shrugging. It worked out eventally lol

Do you have any photos of these colors being worn together in full size dresses? Because some of the shades are so incredibly close in color, I don’t know if it would be noticeable that they are supposed to be different shades. My other concern is that the palest colors would look white in your photos.

I like the dark pink 2nd from the right in the first set and think it would look good with the darker half of the second set. The lighter end of the second set is too close to the wedding dress, IMHO.
