Brides worst nightmare

Kimberly, on October 15, 2019 at 12:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 18
Our all inclusive venue has unexpectedly closed down... luckily we are a year away and we had only paid off half the cost so far. But unfortunately that was literally everything I had down the drain besides a photographer. The venue had ordered my dress back in June and provided everything else. The dress was an absolutely dream poufy and covered in beading and sparkle...not something I could afford on my own. So needless to say I’m stressed out and scared I won’t get my money back. Planning is on hold until we get our $7,000 back.. looking for a new everything now.

Wow! I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with this. On the bright side, you have some time to source a new venue & vendors. Either way, I know this must be beyond stressful! I do hope they give you that deposit back ASAP. Please keep us updated. I wish you all the best, and I hope your new everything is even better than all the previous!

Oh no! Thats a disaster! Be thankful that you at least have enough time to regroup. I know its awful, but maybe you should push the date a bit so you have some extra time to save. Good luck, i'm sure you'll end up finding something even better Smiley heart

I’m definitely not opposed to changing the date but we are contracted with our photographer and we have to figure out how much she’s able to flex with us. Especially since we really like her and want to continue to do business with her. That was a vendor we booked that wasn’t in connection the to venue!

Since you have time til your wedding date I would suggest getting in touch with your photographer asap. She most likely wont have an issue postponing considering she has a whole year to fill the date. Just keep in mind the longer you wait the less chance you'll have of her being ok with it.

    Oh no Smiley sad

What kind of venue orders the dress? That seems odd!

It’s all inclusive and the owner of the venue also owner an Erin Kincaid bridal shop. So part of the package they offered included a dress from their shop... except they send custom measurements and have it made. Unfortunately I had mine ordered in June and it didn’t come in before this sudden shutdown. They won’t be giving anyone their dress.

If they don't give you a refund I would get a lawyer asap.

I’m disputing with my bank today and if that doesn’t work I’m getting a lawyer. The text they sent out doesn’t even state how they plan on refunding it just days “we are gathering information on how this money will be paid back.”

Oh my gosh, this is making me sick to my stomach and it didn't even happen to me Smiley sad That's because I just watched a news report and one bride was supposed to be married in two weeks and the venue has her $12k. Another bride scheduled in Jan 2020 also lost her $12k.

The owner cut off all forms of contact and is just hiding from everyone. He better sell his damn house or whatever to make these people whole. Meanwhile Wedding Wire, The Knot,Yelp and other places still have him as a recommended vendor so it's a good thing people can't contact him.

I'm really sorry this happened to you, OP. I hope the bank can help you.
