I keep thinking a mid-December wedding in Missouri will be ok, then I read the news. We’ve cut out the band and long reception, but guest count is still at 40 and between venue and catering for a 2 hour cocktail reception it’s still a $12K day.
I’m 35 and this will be my first marriage. I don’t want to wait until 2022, and our families still think everything is “fine”, so an elopement with a larger celebration later is not really in the cards.
Very conflicted and hoping to hear from those who had to change plans but still had their day.

I get married next Friday and I couldn't be anymore happy that we didn't wait. We've been together for 9 years. I wasn't restricted at all in the size but about half of my guest list opted not to attend. Nearly all my fiance's family opted not to attend (Sad) but they want to do some sort of celebration with us in the spring. If we are honestly looking at 2022 for things to be normal, I really am glad we didn't wait. We want to move on with our lives and I'm glad I'll be done with wedding planning process. It's been stressful.

Little bummed it won't be as originally planned but no guarantees next year will be different either. I am grateful to still be able to have a wedding and the people that really want to be there will and it will be smaller with the more important close to us and that is okay.

I was in my friends wedding first weekend of September in NY and she had to cut down to 50 people. I know we were all worried about how it would turn out but it was beautiful. We were not allowed to dance, but the dj played great music throughout. The groom and father did a dance everyone was allowed to do at their seat.

We did have to wear masks, but were able to take it off during some parts (sitting down at table, walking down the aisle, and saying speeches).
Since we couldn’t dance, we came up with games but honestly each of us gave a toast which filled the time (wedding went til 1A). The dj spread it out nicely so it wasn’t boring too.
