Brides that wore your hair down, did it last?

JuleeM, on May 17, 2015 at 11:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I want to wear my hair down with curls/waves. My hair is stick straight so I'm concerned about it not lasting, even until the ceremony. Those of you who wore yours down, how did it hold up? If it did well what techniques did your stylist use? An updo isn't really an option. I don't like the way I look with my hair up and I need to hide a really bad tattoo on my shoulder that I'm having removed. It likely won't be totally gone by the wedding. Thanks!

My hair is thick and straight naturally. I had my hair to the side and down for my wedding. My curls did NOT last all day, but we were out in the rain for pictures, so I'm sure it would have lasted better if not for that. My hair didn't fall completely flat, but it definitely ended up with just a subtle wave.

Makeup your tattoo? Maybe airbrush will be more durable or a liquid foundation sealed with a powder... If you have no natural waves it will be had to get a style to last..

My hair is natural curly and it lasted a big chunk of the day, well except for bangs getting messed up from sweating at the reception while dancing Smiley tongue. Make up made it most of the day also, done by my cousin and her friend. Friend is not a beautician, she is a heavy equipment operator and drives bulldozers and backhoes for a living!

My curls held up pretty well, but my hair is already naturally very wavy, but the body did not, at all lol. It was REALLY humid and it flattened pretty quickly. The air was just too heavy

My hair is a bit wavy but it totally lasted. My stylist rolled it pretty tight and used some pins and pro strength hairspray. I think he called it Cement In A Can. I also had extensions to give me a bit more length. My hair was still going strong when DH helped me take out the extensions at 2am...16 hours after they went in.

The best thing to do is to do a hair trial and see how it holds up over the course of the day. I have really long thick hair (so it is heavy which weighs the curls down). I did my trial in the morning and by the end of the day after being in the wind, sitting with my hair pressed up against the car seat, etc it still lasted pretty well. I have no idea what she did to hold it but she said she'd do even more on the day of the wedding. I honestly don't care if my hair looks like it's straight the last hour or two of my wedding. I love the way my hair looks straight too so I'm sure it'll still be pretty.

Mine stayed and I have pretty coarse, thick hair. It was also january with absolutely no humidity though.

My hair is pin straight and doesn't hold a curl longer than 20 minutes if I do it myself. My hair stylist curled my hair then pinned It and kept it like that for a couple hours, then took it down and styled it. It lasted all night and was even curly the next day. I had my hair half up, half down. I don't really have a good picture of my hair from behind at the wedding but this is from my trial. It stayed like this all night.

If your hair is stick straight and won't hold a curl, why do you want to curl it?

My hair is the same way, and since I've never been able to get my hair to hold a curl in my life, I feel like curling my hair on my wedding would make me just not look like me. I'm leaving it down and straight.

Nope, didn't last by the end of the night. The curls closest to the front fell, the back did retain a little curl. The hair dresser even put what she called the 'cement' hairspray.

I have very fine hair. I put my hair in stand up pin curls and used a light hold spray for styling then a high hold at the end over everything. I brushed out the curls and got them into place and it lasted all night. This is a fairly usual style for me, it usually lasts for a couple days.

Purplekitten, I didn't say my hair doesn't hold a curl. I curl my hair myself all the time. It just doesn't last all night. I was just curious if professional styling helps with longevity.

Waved/Curly hair for a wedding is pretty. I didn't want to have the same plain, boring, straight hair at my wedding which is why I didn't and I looked like myself, just a fancier version. Lol I definitely think professional stylists help with longevity. They know what to do to make it last.

Mostly, yes. During the evening my hair started getting tangled though because it's so long. Some pieces went flat, but since I had extensions those really held curl all night and the bottom of my normal hair held curl as well.

3:15pm vs. 7:30 pm lol 😂 but we got the majority of pictures in before it died. Do what you want for pics who cares if it dies after Smiley smile
