Brides that are rescheduling to 2021

Kathleen, on March 31, 2020 at 1:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

If I have to reschedule my June 2020 date, I will have to reschedule to June 2021 which means I'll need new RSVP cards to send out to get a new head count since it will be a year away. What are you guys doing in this instance if you are doing this?

The company we got our invitations from will re print them for free for us with the new date if we postpone and we will send them out with new rsvp cards and get a new head count. Maybe the people that have said no for the original date will change their minds for a new date if we do postpone

Are you open to doing an electronic RSVP? A lot of websites have the ability for people to RSVP online and you can send a reminder out via email. If you are worried about people not being tech savvy you can always give them a call and get their RSVP over the phone. That’s what I’m doing with the older folks. Saves you money on new prints and excess postage

I am thinking of just doing online RSVP. Since wedding wire has the capability and everyone we invited this time is getting invited the second time. I think most people will know through word of mouth to do the rsvp that way. We were also thinking of sending out a change of date e-invite. I know it's not the same but I don't want to spend more money on postage. We already sent out RSVP and got most back by the time we had to postpone our formal wedding.

We are likely going to push our event back a full year. We did our STDs via email, sent physical invites, and are collecting RSVPs on our website right now. We are waiting another week or two to make a final decision but will likely push everything back by a full year. Our invites were printed through Zazzle and if they will reprint for free we go that route, but if not we might just send those digitally via email for round two to save on costs.

I just emailed Zazzle. You would think that companies would kind of jump on this opportunity to reprint things in order to secure long term relationships with customers. For example, if Zazzle won't reprint our cards, why would I then use Zazzle to print our thank you cards after the wedding, or cards for birth announcements, baby showers, holidays, etc going forward? We were having a smaller wedding and had pretty simple/basic invitations printed, so their cost to reprint for us would be pretty minimal.

Same thing with AirBnB vs VRBO. AirBnB is allowing refunds for those having to cancel rentals because of the Covid-19 crisis, but VRBO isn't. Well now you can be sure I'm going to book all my future vacation rentals through AirBnB instead of VRBO, because I trust AirBnB to do the right thing. Fortunately, our best man booked the bachelor party house through AirBnB because that had to be canceled. You'd think more companies would see this as an opportunity for good publicity and to build trust with their customer base, instead of thinking about the immediate bottom dollar.

I agree. That’s crap. I’ll let my guests know as well not to use VRBO! Thank you for the heads up.

We rescheduled our July 2020 wedding to July 21, that the only way we could keep the exact same deal. I ordered new save the date cards. So annoying that we have to wait an entire year. We had everything ready to go.

We were offered a refund from VRBO and Homeaway for our house rentals that we have. We talked to the owners of each house and told them to hold our deposit for our new date. They were happy that we still wanted to rent from them for the new dates.

That's good to hear! Our friend had to fill out a few forms with AirBnB but said the process was pretty easy and straightforward and he received a full refund. I suspect VRBO changed its tune after some backlash.

Luckily for me I was just getting ready to order invitations when things started getting ready bad. I waited hoping it was going to get better and of course it hasn't. I ordered new save the date cards instead.
