Brides Across America; Free Dress

Kim, on June 12, 2020 at 7:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Help please ladies! Have any of you ever participated in the "Brides Across America" event where you get a free wedding dress if you or your fiance is military or if you're a first responder? I just found out about it, and I already picked out my dress almost a year ago and am currently having it altered, but I'm so tempted to check out these free dresses. Our wedding is August 23rd (postponed from June 4th). So, I don't have much time 😬 I've been feeling like I'm unsure about if I'm fully in love with my dress at this point (maybe it's partly because of all the uncertainty and frustration of postponing?). I just don't know that it has the wow factor I'm going for! If you had the chance to get a free dress, would you take the opportunity and go dress shopping again? Or just stick with what you already have when the wedding is 2 1/2 months away?

I probably would just settle for the free dress ahah but that's me being frugal. but i wouldn't think it's bad if you got a free dress and didn't like it and then went shopping.

I think you should stick with the one you have. Let someone who can't afford to buy a dress take advantage of the free ones.

I realized after I paid $50 and scheduled an appointment exactly what the program is and now I do feel like I should just let someone else get that chance! I just saw free dress for military and first responders and thought "oh wow! I'd love a free dress and maybe I'd end up liking another dress more than the one I have". Now though, I get what it's all about and feel like it's best to give someone else who can't afford a dress the opportunity 🙂

That said, you should be happy with your wedding dress. If you aren’t crying in it, maybe try one one or two more. It’s incredibly late in the game so you are pushing it, but it’s your wedding day. You should be thrilled with what you’re wearing. If you find another dress that doesn’t need any altering and you feel bad having two dresses, consider a dress change for your reception. Regardless, be happy!

Thanks Vee! I think it's not so the stress and uncertainty of rather or not we'll even be able to have our wedding. It's making me question everything somehow, except for of course, the groom lol

Fair enough. I’m sure everything will be perfect as the most important decision is the one you don’t question. Have a beautiful wedding!
