Bridemaids dresses...who pays?

Dumb question...maybe. does the bride pay for the bridemaids dresses? Or does the bridemaids pay for their own?

It can be done either way. My bridesmaid are paying for their own. I made sure to keep it a reasonable price.

Traditionally the bridesmaids are responsible for payment of their wedding day attire (dress, alterations, and shoes). However, if it’s within your budget you can do whatever you like.

The bridesmaids will pay for their dresses. HOWEVER, since 2 of my girls are flying to our state for my wedding and will need car rental/hotel, I purchased their dresses.

I paid for my girls. I know it's typical the BM's pay for their own, but I personally just hated the idea of charging my best friends for the honor of standing up with me.

If you ask them to pay, make sure to get their budgets individually before you choose a dress. What is reasonable to you, may not be reasonable to one or more of your BM's. You need to stick to the lowest budget you are given.

My bridesmaids are paying for their own. I gave more than a year notice and looked for reasonably priced dresses.

I've never been in a wedding where the bride paid for our dresses, but I've heard of it being done. Usually if the bride pays for the dresses, she doesn't get them anything else or a wedding gift. I've always been happy to pay for my dresses, as are my own bridesmaids. I've definitely only looked at dresses under $150 so it's affordable. The dresses I have my girls wearing are $99 from Azazie.

They're supposed to pay for their own and part of being in the wedding, but I know of some brides who have done it when they had more money than the attendants. I bought my MOH's dress. She's my niece and recently had a baby so money was tight

The bride should consult the bridesmaids first on what they can afford, then pick a dress based on that & the bridesmaids can pay for it. If the bride requires specific shoes, jewelry, hair or makeup, I personally think the bride should cover those.
