Bride/groom Cocktails

Lalaluna, on July 3, 2018 at 9:29 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

No idea what to do for the bride/groom cocktails! Our bar said they can do simple cocktails (jack and coke, cranberry vodka, etc) but didn't really go into more detail. These just don't seem exciting or fun for me and I don't normally drink them anyway! Anything with stuff that is muddled or has too many steps is out. I don't know what to do! I love margaritas, fruity cocktails, and stuff with florals/herbs like lavender. I'd love to know what everyone did for their "signature cocktails." Our wedding is in September so trying to get everything finalized now! Thanks in advance!

One of our faves is from Virginia beach.. it's called an orange crush... orange vodka, triple sec, and fresh squeezed oranges (we just use orange juice) kinda like a sweeter screwdriver with a nicer name lol

Instead of a signature drink necessarily, my fiance and I plan on having a sign that says what we'll be drinking that night; for example, I love gimlet and he likes old fashions instead of coming up with a new, frankly over-sugared "signature" recipe. So, say if you like a flavored lemonade and your fiance has a different favorite drink that could be good to put on a little board near the bar. Gives guests a look into what you like and (in our case) guests will probably gravitate to having that instead of using a bunch of different alcohols and mixers to keep costs down.

His signature drink is a Drunken Arnold Palmer (Jack Daniels Honey, pink lemonade, and iced tea)...since our venue is a golf club...and mine is called a Blushing Bride (citrus vodka, pink lemonade, and sprite). We tried to tie in the pink from our color palette.

We just did one "signature" drink--a Dark and Stormy with ginger beer and either bourbon or rum depending on what people chose. H is a competitive sailor and i love the water so it felt like a good choice. Smiley smile if you like herbal and floral flavours, i recently had a champagne cocktail with elderflower in it that was so tasty! bubbly + elderflower liqueur with a lemon twist.

What's your theme? Our venue comes with an open bar, but since we have a "Vintage Romance/Vintage Elegance" theme we've put drink ideas on the back of the menu cards for drinks like:

    -Old Fashioned

    -Side Car

    -Sloe Gin Fizz

    -Amaretto Sour

    -Bee's Knees

    -Mint Juleup

    -Whiskey Sour

    -Champagne Cocktail

Pinterest has a ton! We are thinking of doing a whiskey drink and calling it "Whiskey Girl" or doing a margarita since we both love them. A flavored margarita is always fun!
