Bride Squad or no Bride Squad?

Jacki, on July 7, 2019 at 10:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2
We are getting married at a courthouse that will be about 15 minutes of a ceremony. Then we will have a reception. My FH and I decided to no bridal party but we asked two people to be witnesses. I asked his sister and he asked his best friend. I have 4 other close friends that I want part of the wedding but I'm not sure how to go about it. We are getting married in September so things are coming along pretty quickly. I want a bachelorette party and not needing a bridal shower. I've thought of asking them to be part of a bride squad and have them show up at the bachelorette party and show up at the courthouse/reception and have the time of their lives. Knowing our wedding is very untraditional, is this something that sounds silly or something I should do to include those close to me?

Hey Jackie! If you are having a bachelorette party, that you can absolutely invite your friends to attend. This sounds like a great way to get to celebrate your engagement with your close friends.

Will there be other friends and family members attending the courthouse on the day of your wedding? If so, you should definitely discuss inviting them with your FH. If there are no other people going to the courthouse except you, your FH and your two witnesses, I would think twice about inviting 3 more friends as a ‘bride squad’. You and your FH have decided against a bridal party for a reason and if you want to have 3 more friends stand with you at your wedding ceremony, this is definitely something that you should discuss with your FH. You don’t want him to feel like he didn’t get the opportunity to have groomsmen you but you still got your bridesmaids.

We are inviting close family and our friends at the courthouse which will be about 30 people invited including the people I want as a bride squad. As for my FH and groomsmen, he doesn’t have anyone he’d want as groomsmen so a wedding party would be a little off.
