Bride Only Bathroom

Samantha, on June 14, 2023 at 1:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
My mom made a sign to put on the bigger of the 6 stalls in my venues restroom (not the handicap stall) that says "bride only"
I get it because no one wants to sit in pee or get pee on their dress and going to the bathroom with a ball gown I need more room than the other stalls allow. However, I feel like it comes off as prissy and rude. There are 4 normal size stalls, 1 large handicap stall, and one stall kind of separated from the others that is in between the size of the normal stalls and the handicap stall. For reference, our wedding will have 75 people.

I don't really see the point in reserving a stall for just the bride. That seems odd to me. If there's a line of guests waiting at the bathroom, why leave one perfectly functional stall open? Most of your wedding day won't be spent in the bathroom at your venue, and if you're not using that stall to store anything from earlier in the day (a bag with getting ready items, makeup, clothes you wore while getting ready, etc), I don't understand why guests couldn't use that stall otherwise.

This seems kind of rude and unnecessary. If there's a line and you aren't in the bathroom are you/your mom really okay with guests not being able to use it? Plus I feel like people would anyway. If I saw that at a wedding I would definitely think the bride is entitled and prissy. (No one would know it was your mom's idea and not yours)

Chances are you'll need help in the stall (I needed 2 friends to help me go in my ballgown!) You'll just want to use the handicap stall to have the most room. Just check the seat is clean before sitting like you normally would.

It would be one thing if there was a bridal room with limited access but for the few minutes you’ll be using a stall that’s ridiculous. You can have someone help you with the dress. Your mom is out of line.

I think mom is really over thinking things.

As a guest I would disregard the sign if I have to pee, I use men's rooms if the urge is bad enough. Also if the bride was like "hey I need the big stall for this big ass dress." I'd let her go. As it's her day and she's hosting.

People will disregard the sign and there is no reason to post it.

It would be rude and off putting to your guests. You can invest in this bathroom helper: https://a.co/d/dkyorym
I personally didn't even use the bathroom all reception. I don't know how, but no memories of working my mermaid gown.

I think the sign is unnecessary. As a guest, I'd think it's funny but would disregard it unless the bride was actually there. I imagine that people would let you use whatever stall and cut the line if you need to use the restroom.

I didn't even go to the bathroom at all during my wedding day. I had my shapeware on, plus a petticoat, plus the dress itself . . . I didn't want to deal with that nightmare.

Honestly I think that would be kind of rude. I feel like it's unnecessary.

Completely unnecessary. Simply use the larger stall when you go - if someone is in it at that time, wait until they're done....
