I think I'm missing the bride gene. I picked up my wedding dress today and when the woman asked me if I was excited, I realized I wasn't. Has anyone else felt this way? I love my FH and I'm excited we are getting married but the whole wedding thing is just like, eh, it's a party and then it will be...

I think I'm missing the bride gene. I picked up my wedding dress today and when the woman asked me if I was excited, I realized I wasn't. Has anyone else felt this way? I love my FH and I'm excited we are getting married but the whole wedding thing is just like, eh, it's a party and then it will be done. To be honest, I can't wait for it To be over. I'm thinking maybe it's because I'm working, going to school, prepping for my 15 min video and 40 page paper, IEP's, lesson plans, differentiation, and everything related to work, while looking for a second job that maybe I am just preoccupied to even be excited even though it's in a week.

I keep getting excited when I think about seeing everyone--friends and family I haven't seen in years. One week to go, and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone!

(But other than that? Totally had those moments. And it sounds like we're in good company.)

I feel the same. I'm just ready to be done with it, but I am excited for the honeymoon!

6 days out and I hate the question "are you excited?" Because I say "excited for it to be over!" and people just don't know how to respond. Lol

I also can't wait for it to be over. I am excited about the wedding. I know it will be great but whenever people bring it up to me all I can think is "Ugh I just want to be on our honeymoon."

I'm so over the wedding. I just want to be married. Everything else is just stressful.

My FH and I are definitely more excited for our honeymoon than the actual wedding day but we can't wait to be a married couple

I found out my dress was in the same day I found out my fathers cancer had spread to his bones. I went there to see when it would be in, just in case I needed the emergency wedding plan executed (yes it happened in his hospital room days before he passed away) It was still in the plastic bag, I took it out looked at it, and cried, mostly because of Dad . I put it back in the bag, and told the dress shop owner I would be back. It was not until a week or 2 later I went back with a few of the BM's and actually tried it on.

I have never had any desire to plan a wedding. I'm definitely not excited, not even stressed and probably should be. I'm excited to be married to my FH and see all my family together, but the wedding part is not fun at all. Whenever people ask me about being excited or stressed I usually lie a little and say I'm so excited and blah blah blah to make the convo stop lol

    So happy I'm not alone!

I teach sped all year round. Our progress reports went home yesterday and my wedding is next week. I've put off so many work things for the wedding. If it doesnt get done in my planning hour, its not getting done, for the last 2 almost 3 weeks I've been like this. Thankfully my next ETR/IEP isnt until next month. So thankful for my paras and other teachers helping when my mind is just not at work.

I can see that. I love parties and we are planning it with only the people we are looking forward to spending time with. We are planning it and if something doesn't make us feel good we nix it. I work full time, and honestly, wedding planning is my escape right now, but I have also felt underwhelmed with the whole dress thing, and earlier on, was wondering the same thing you are! Whatever you feel, it's OK. Just feel it. At the end of the day, do what works for you and FS!

Eh I didn't get excited until August and it's only because the invitations had been sent and I saw the end of planning in sight.

I can definitely relate, with working full time and going to school. Excited to be married, excited to celebrate with my family and friends, but I didn't cry over my dress, and the one small wedding expo I went to gave me nothing but anxiety. I think the "bride gene" is just a cultural expectation you can choose to be a part of or not.

I'm glad I'm not alone and neither are you ladies. I think just like RockyMtnBride said it's just some cultural expectation that we clearly haven't succumbed to.

I wish you all a happy and outstandingly beautiful wedding with a lifetime of happiness, joy and love!

A friend of mine told me that her favorite part about being married was not planning the wedding. I definitely don't think you're alone here!

I am right there with you. It depends on the day, though, and if I don't have to go to work or grad school, I'm all about excited bridal mode because at that moment it's the only thing I have to think about! Most days though, I'm like you with 100 other things to be thinking about. Super excited to call my FH my huband. Just can't wait to get on with married life!
