Bride Entrance Song

Josh-Sarah, on November 25, 2013 at 7:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I'm IN LOVE with the song "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri, but the grooms brother used it for his bride's entrance just this year, so I can't exactly use it as well! :s. Anyway, so I was wondering if there is a similar type of song I could use? It has to be suitable for a violin...thanks for any suggestions!

Blahhhh, I just wrote such a long response and I deleted it Smiley sad

Alright, here it goes again….. How come you can't use the song? In a year any of the same guests won't remember that it was the same song, other than your FSIL… And to be honest, so many people have the same taste and there are going to be similarities either way.

I just went to a friend's wedding and as her entrance song began I thought "damn it, that's "my" song." However, she had a DJ play it, and I will have a guitarist, who will also have sing the song. I would be darned if I wouldn't do what I want at my wedding just because someone else had it!

and with that, to your question Smiley winking Check out Never Stop by safesuit. I bet that would be gorgeous on a violin. I do like Adele, Love song. Or John Legend, all of me. They are different but are gorgeous songs that could work.

I'll be using this song to walk down the aisle. Another great song is " Giving myself" by Jennifer Hudson.

I'm thinking "Turning Page" by Sleeping at Last.

It's so amazing, and also from Twilight (same movie as a thousand years)

    The lyrics are the sweetest!

Call me old school but Here comes the Bride works for me. For wedding party, I am still a long way off but I am looking at a ceremony pianist who plays The World of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and it sounds awesome in piano, or even Edelweiss from Sound of Music. Really love those movies but not sure yet.

I love that you want to do a violin cover of a song. I also want to do that.

Also thought about "A Thousand Years" but I'm sure it is used a lot.

Some options I found recently are:

"Marry Me" by Train which sounds amazing with violin

"Hey Soul Sister" by Train I know it seems weird but if you listen to the violin cover it is wonderful

I know that "Hey Soul Sister" isn't a song that is similar to "A Thousand Years" but give it a listen you never know!

"A River Flows In You" by Yiruma was my original song, and it is so beautiful! However, I changed my song to "Here I Am" by Leona Lewis. Here are links to both songs:

Thanks for your help everyone! They lyrics to the song aren't important since it will just be a violin playing it, but I will have a listen to all your suggestions, and hopefully I will find one I love! Smiley smile

I am using "A Thousand Years" and I HATE doing the same thing as other people, it totally sucks that it's so common (or getting there anyways) but I love it and I am using it ... If you love it, then use it! Smiley smile

Bridal party is doing the instrumental of Marry Me and I'm coming in with the lyrics. it's beautiful on a piano I know, and I think it would translate to violin! I also think that you could use Thousand Years if you really want. It will sound different on a violin

I'm considering using "At Last" by the amazing Etta James. FH thinks it's not exactly fitting for our "beachy/rustic wedding" but I love it and every time we both listen to it we get chills. <3

I'm using the Vitamin String Quartet version of U2's "All I Want is You." I'm not a huge U2 fan, but I heard it once and was done. The actual U2 version of the song is nice as well, but I like the VSQ version better. there are a TON of songs that they have done. We're using them for all of our pre-ceremony music.
