Im curious to see the logistics on how other couples who joined their guests at cocktail hour. Our cocktail time is going to be an hour and a half, and we are taking the majority of our photos before so that we can join our guests during this time. If you did this, were you introduced into cocktail hour? Or did you just mingle with your guests and then have a big introduction at the start of dinner? We are having a harpist play from pre-ceremony until cocktail hour is over so we would have to interrupt her for us to be introduced in at that time. Just having trouble visualizing logistics of this...

We joined our guests for cocktail hour and then just entered the reception space for dinner with everyone else. We chose not to do any introductions. However, if you choose to do introductions, then just wait for all your guests to be seated and then enter the reception space as your DJ/band leader introduces you.

We're doing the same thing. Pictures before ceremony so we can spend time with guests. We plan on getting introduced at reception.

We are doing our first look before the wedding as well and really only need 20 minutes so we can get all the family pictures done so we will be walking right into our reception without interruption. We do not have attendants outside our adult sons (one each) who will be walking us down the aisle and standing by our sides as our best men, and are having a cocktail party reception so I'm not sure if this would work for you but we don't plan to make any announcements until we are ready for our first dance. We will probably do any toasts just before the dance. We're really just more excited to spend time with our guests than a lot of the formalities.

We plan to mingle for half the cocktail hour then go outside and be introduced for the reception so we can go right into toasts and then dinner

I highly recommend participating in your cocktail hour. In the past, the cocktail hour has been used for the brutal party to stay begging closed doors until they are announced during the reception. This time was also used for photos. If you can plan accordingly, photos can be taken and you can still enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests.

Was your cocktail hr and reception in the same room? And were your guests asked to sit prior to intros and first dance? Was this your grand entrance?

Our cocktail hour was on an outside terrace and dinner was inside. Our guests were all standing when we did our entrance and dance.

I too am not sure if we want to join our cocktail hour or not. I like what you had to say and was wondering....was your cocktail hour and reception held in the same room? We’re your guest standing when the introduction announcement was made? Or did you have your guests seated?

We had cocktail hour outside on a terrace and sinner inside but chose to do our intro outside so people could enjoy the outdoors and they were mostly standing and mingling before we do our intro anyway.
