Bridal Winner

soookitty, on August 1, 2019 at 1:33 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
Hi all,I just received an email saying I got selected for a bridal beauty experience. I registered at David's Bridal so they said that's how I got selected and chosen. The email is from Tracy Eck from Mary Kay. She said they are a proud partner with David's Bridal. Is this a scam? Has anyone received this email?
Thanks

It's pretty much a scam. They basically have you set up a Mary Kay party with your bridesmaids and guilt you into buy a bunch of crap. Don't respond.

It's not exactly a scam, but it is a marketing ploy to get you to buy their products. You may have won an actual prize, but most of these type of things require you to sit through some kind of presentation, and then you get the hard sell on the products.

You can say no, and walk away with your free stuff. But not everyone feels the free stuff is worth it.

I just got a similar email from a company that sells cooking products. They want FH and I to sit through a 90 minute presentation of their cookware. Then at the end, whether we buy anything or not, we get 2 free champagne flutes, and a certificate for two Tungsten wedding bands. I'm still debating whether or not to go--mostly because FH really wants a Tungsten band, and this could save us $300-$600 if we got it for free.

Man I saw red flags at “Mary Kay”, my future SiL went to a “Mary Kay party”, she said she felt hustled.

I got three of these, one claiming it came from DB, two from bridal shows where I literally didn’t even talk to anyone for Mary Kay! One of the girls messaged me about 8 times over three weeks telling me there was no obligation and whatnot before I blocked her. I’d just reply that you’re not interested because of you ignore it they may keep trying.

I was "selected" from a bridal show in January. The girl sent me a text asking if I was interested and explained what it was and that I could invite a few friends. We set it all up and the day came and she never showed. I messaged and called her multiple times and she never responded. Such a waste of everyone's time.

DB sells customer info to Mary Kay so everyone "wins" that. It's not technically a scam but it is, in my opinion, an unethical and shady way to do business. There's no need to respond because it's no different than a bulk mail advertisement. If you do respond, they will hound you until you block them.

It's an advertisement and a shady business deal. DB sells your information everyone you'll be scams for several weeks.

I won too, but never took her up on it (she lives about 2.5 hours away from me, 3 from the David’s Bridal store and wanted me to come to her).

I went to a bridal show and got selected for this at one of the booths but I never claimed it because I had to host some kind of party and it seemed more like for sales ... All just to win some small prize.
