Bridal Shows/Expos - worth it?

There is an upcoming bridal expo in my city this July. I'm considering going, but am wondering if it's really worth it. I do still need several vendors (cake, dress, rentals, florist). I just get awful anxiety talking to people, especially when the topic of cost comes up. My mom (who's kind of a badass) would be with me to help with negotiations and give her opinions. Any experiences with bridal expos, good or bad, to share?

I was on the fence about going to one but after reading the comments here I think I may have to check one out.

Go! It think it's a great way to get a taste of the "wedding planning world" and sample what different vendors have to offer. We went to one and FH learned a lot (aka realized that we had work to do!). Paid $10 but we left with our bellies stuffed!

Thanks, everyone! I was nervous, but now I'm excited! Definitely going to research the vendors that I'm still in need of so I can use my time wisely. I was a Mary Kay consultant for a (VERY) short time, so I know to dodge MLM booths hahaha.

I had fun. You can generally find a good deal and most likely they give out coupons and free stuff. It's worth it to do at least once IMO.

I found my venue, DJ and photographer at a bridal show, as well as I got some other great ideas I ended up incorporating.

The DJ offered an 'expo discount' (some of the other vendors did too, but not ones I booked).

I thoroughly enjoyed the one I went to. It's where I found my photographer. That was the only vendor I was having trouble with besides food. I'm happy I went.

I loved it when FH and I went. We got great food and cake. FH even had one waiter coming to him with extra shrimp because he was actually one of the few men there.

@cantwait, my FH wants absolutely nothing to do with the bridal show. I couldn't even persuade him with free food/cake, lol!

We found out photography at one, won free dance lessons at another, and always enjoy the free food!

Go! Me and FH did a bunch. Good to see vendors and try and get free stuff. Won a demo bouquet which I LOVED, ended up being my florist, so I get that bouquet for real now :-). Also found tux place and won a discount. We we're going to use them anyway, so discount a bonus. Go, have fun and be a bride.

I ended up booking my hair and makeup artists and getting more information about hotel blocks. I found them useful just to get good ideas even if I didn't book anything right on the spot there

I went to one in January in Houston. It was one of the most exhausting and overwhelming things I've ever done lol. I seriously don't remember most of it.

It's cool because you can win prizes and free vendors and such, and you can meet with vendors if you're undecided about a lot. But it may also overload you with ideas and make you sweat haha! Bring like two people with you dive in! The dresses and food were the best part for me.

***fun fact: the vendors actually pay for that space for advertising purposes and they pay A LOT for it. So the vendors you see will probably be on the high end of pricing.

I actually liked them. Lots of free gifts and prizes. I won a free boudoir shoot that way.

I loved it!! It was a lot of fun and it gave me a lot of inspiration! I also went to a fashion show at the end, which was my favorite part. But I also completely agree to make a separate email because you will get TONS!! Also, make labels or something because you will end up writing your name, address, and email like a million times. Lol. I liked getting the little free things and seeing the different vendors! You can also win some big stuff if you're lucky! Overall, it was fun! Even my fiancé liked it! I definitely plan on going to more!
