Bridal Showers/Bachelorette Party...when to have them???

FutureMrs2011, on December 7, 2010 at 3:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Ok, so our wedding is at the end of April. My sister (and MOH) is planning both of them. But we don't know what dates to set them at. I really don't want them to be too close to the actual wedding because I am sure I will be freaking out by then trying to make sure everything is in place. How many weeks/months away did you have your parties? Also, who do you invite to the Bridal shower? Do you invite all the female guests from your wedding guest list, or just your close family/friends? I will probably only invite my girlfriends and bridal party to my bachelorette party, but I could use some insight on the Bridal Shower, who to invite, when to have it, where to have it, and what do you do? Thanks Ladies!

    I have no idea.

2 of my BM threw us (DH and I) a shower (haha only the 2 of them, their guests and us).

Ladies at work threw me a bachelorette party and it was only people from the office.

It all depends on who they want to invite I guess.

    1. Bridal shower: have this about 8 weeks before the wedding. Invite aunts, grandmas, sisters on both sides. As as any close friends

    2. Bachelorette: have this about 4 weeks before the wedding. Close friends and BP ladies (minus the FG!)

LOL My sister was thinking of having it at her house but I don't know, I guess maybe she will come up with games and stuff for us to do. I think I am going to do the shower in February and then maybe the bachelorette party in March. IDK!

For the bridal shower- It depends on how many guests can be accomodated at the host's home. It's best to invite the women who know you and FH's immediate family. I think they shoudl be within 2 months of the wedding itself, within a month is better.

As far as the bachelorette party- I say invite the people that you wouldn't mind seeing you beyond drunk, dancing on a table, screaming "I'm the bride, Biotch" at the top of your lungs and not think anything less of you. Not that you will do that- but the girls who are absolutely closest to you. I think those are funner when they are small- maybe 5 girls total. And that should be much closer to the wedding- within 3 weeks.
