Bridal shower

Desiree, on January 13, 2017 at 8:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

I recently went to a bridal shower and they didnt play games, instead they had each bridesmaid bring a basket and they sold tickets and had a chinese auction. They did have us write our names on the thank you note envelopes and pulled a few for some door prizes. Wondering what everyones thought about the chinese auction is. Do you you think its a good idea or is it inappropriate to ask your guests to buy tickets?

I think that is insanely rude/tacky and no way in hell I would ever contribute to one or have one at a shower.

Ugh, that is incredibly crass. You don't use your shower as a fundraiser, you are not a charity.

Inappropriate. I'm all for skipping games at showers, but just have it be a casual luncheon then. Don't make people shell out money when they're already bringing a gift.

I was so excited when I read that they didn't play games at a shower! Until I read the rest of your post. Selling anything at a any wedding related event is not cool.

That sounds ridiculous. I didn't have any games at my shower either, but we certainly didn't do that BS.

You all feel the same way I do. I just threw it out there thinking it was something new people were doing.

I've seen prizes given away, but the guests didn't have to pay for a raffle ticket, or anything for that matter. I agree that's tacky, and I'm glad you saw that, OP.

I don't like the "thank you" note envelope thing either. You can't address your own thank you cards? Do you want me to write my own thank you note too? But it's ok because then I might win a prize for writing it? LMAO!

Sorry OP, just having a laugh. Sounds like you know better than to do this.

I would have left. That is so rude.
