I am having both a bridal shower and bachelorette party. The bridal shower is nice because you get a lot of things that you need. My fiancé and I have been living together for almost 2 years but we have all hand me down stuff so the bridal shower is a nice way to get updated things you need for your home. And bachelorette party is nice to just go out with your girls and have fun. But there’s no right or wrong, I think a lot of people choose to have both

I have always understood the shower to be a family friendly gift giving celebration, and the bachelorette party to be an outing with peers and close friends. I imagine you could choose one or the other, or enjoy both without issue.

Both are celebrations hosted in your honor by someone who volunteers to do so.

A shower is a gift giving occasion to help the couple set up their new home. Shower gifts used to be much smaller and less expensive in scale than you often see these days.

A bachelorette is a party - the equivalency of a bachelor party- a last fling,so to speak, for the bride before she marries.

I'm not doing a bridal shower, only a bachelorette party. Most my friends and family are in California and I'm in Colorado so going back for two events seems too stressful. A bridal shower is typically for all female guests, it's usually a breakfast or lunch during the day and guests bring a gift off your registry. Your bachelorette is usually just bridesmaids or friends around your age, and is usually at night I think? And they generally don't bring presents. You do't have to have both or either, but both are fun!

I'm having both. The bridal shower is mostly for family and close friends. They both do games, gifts etc. The difference with the bachelorette party you may have an exotic cake and dancer. Either one! Enjoy

I had my bachelorette VERY early (coinciding with my birthday and a winter break from school) and am also having a bridal shower because my mom offered to give me one! The bachelorette was 4/5 of my bridesmaids, and my bridal shower will be my female relatives, FH's female relatives, my friends and my mother's friends who are coming to the wedding!
