Bridal Shower vs Bachelorette Party

A shower is a social event where your nearest and dearest and invited to share some socializing and bring gifts to help set up your new home. They are meant to be intimate affairs. The gifts are usually smaller then wedding gifts. The shower may, or may not have a theme.

All of the women invited to the shower must also be invited to the wedding, but you don't invite all of the female wedding guests to the shower. The host may ask you for a guest list. After you clarify the number they are comfortable hosting, you draft a list of your closest relatives and friends. Include the groom's close family too.

A bachelorette is a party where you celebrate the last days of your single life with your BM's and close friends. It can be drinks and dinner, club crawl, or anything the guests are comfortable with and can afford.

The one thing a shower and bachelorette have in common is that they are planned and hosted by someone else, in your honor. You do not plan or host a party in your own honor.

A bridal shower is an event thrown by a female family member or bridal party member. All the women on your side and your fiance's side of the family are invited and it's a calmer event. You'll probably receive gifts off your registry for this, and there are normally little games that are played.

A bachlorette party is typically just for you and your side of the bridal party. You might go clubbing, stay a weekend at the beach, go to an amusement park, or do a wine and paint night. If you are a person that drinks, the bachlorette will most likely involve alcohol, but if drinking isn't your think then you can do something fun sober.
