Bridal Shower Thank you Wording

Diana, on March 30, 2016 at 7:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Hello everyone! I'm in the midst of writing my bridal shower thank you cards, and am having a bit of "writers block" regarding on how to word these properly. For instance, how can I properly word a thank you for crystal candle stick holders I received that were not on my registry? They are beautiful, we don't own a home at the moment (just a small apartment with no dining table).. Next year we will hopefully be looking at homes though so these will definitely come in handy down the road. Any help or tips or wording these bridal shower thank yous would be greatly appreciated!

Say exactly that, "Thank you for the beautiful crystal candlesticks! These will look so lovely on our dining room table and they'll add the perfect touch to those special dinners." Write from the heart - thank them for the specific gift and give an example of how you will put it to use.

I think that you say it as you just did. It not having been on your registry doesn't change the wording or make you less thankful for a gift. "Thank you so much for the crystal candlesticks. They are beautiful and I am already picturing them in our future home."

'Thank you for the beautiful crystal candle holders. We will enjoy them for many years to come."

What does your registry have to do with anything? I personally HATE them and would never have one or use one. Perhaps the gift giver is just as old fashioned as me.

Wedding gifts are no different than any other gifts. Just be gracious. If you get something you will never ever use, just lie like you would if your beloved Grandma made you a hideous sweater.

You can also Google this for wording advice for each situation (cash gift, no gift, etc). When I wrote my shower thank you's a few weeks ago I found a great website to help me with wording

Oh, I didn't mean that the fact that they weren't on my registry as a negative thing! I don't care at all, I like them a lot.. I was just browsing thorough a few shower thank you wording sites and noticed that they had different wording options for gifts that were on a registry vs ones that weren't .. So i didn't know if it made a difference!

Those wording sites are giving some horrible advice then. Sorry if I sounded snarky- some people are very obsessed with their registry . I think as long as you mention the specific item and give a heart felt thanks the giver will be pleased, the words don't really matter so long as they are genuine.
