Bridal Shower seating issue

Anna =), on August 7, 2015 at 4:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We are holding my friend's bridal shower at my apartment complex's clubhouse. They have a party room that also has a kitchen. She is inviting 45 people and I expect maybe 25-30 show up. We plan on doing finger foods brunch style. I am getting two tables from work for the food and the gifts. Do you think people will be upset that there will not be any tables to actually sit at and eat? There will be enough seating including couches, oversized leather chairs, dining chairs, and folding chairs. We are trying to minimize costs and everywhere around us including park shelters are too expensive to rent.

I would feel a little uncomfortable. It's nice to have somewhere to sit your plate other than your lap. Especially if you have a plate and a drink.

What time is it going to be? If it isn't at a meal time I don't see an issue with some finger foods on couches, and maybe have a few spots at a table for those that really want it. However if it is a meal time I would try to have places for everyone to sit at a table.

It's great that you will have enough seating for everyone. I think it's ok to not have tables for eating if none of the food requires a fork and knife. Finger foods on a plate in your lap=fine. Cutting a chicken breast with sauce or eating forkfuls of eggplant parmigiana in your lap=not fine

You don't need a table for everyone to sit at and eat. I don't think anyone would expect it either. All the showers I've been to and hosted guests just sat on the couch or whatever seats were provided.

If it's finger food I would be fine without a table. I go to finger food events all the time and as long as there is a place to sit I'm happy.

If there is anything messy or anything that requires a fork and knife, then a table would be good.
