Bridal Shower RSVP?

WoW, on March 30, 2016 at 4:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I am MOH for my SIL, her bridesmaids and I are hosting a shower for her. The RSVP deadline was March 25. I have to give the final count to venue by Friday April 1 and shower is April 9. I am still missing about 5 people.

When planning the shower, I got the guest list from the bride and her future MIL (as I was told too). The 5 people who have not RSVP are MIL side. Well, her response today to bride when I asked for a phone # was that she's not hunting anyone down to beg them to attend the shower.

Anyways, how do you handle the ones who don't respond? Do I mark them as a yes or no?

The bride said that or the MIL?

Either way thats a tough one. Personally I'd mark them as yes. But I'm a "rather have too much than not enough" kind of person. but I dont know what that does to your budget.

I asked the MIL several times for some phone numbers over the last week for the ones who haven't rsvpd. She never responded, so I asked bride if she happened to have the numbers, she said future husband did and would get back to me. The bride asked the FMIL and that was FMIL response. Bride not to happy, especially since FMIL is the one who wanted the big old shower and invited all these people who barely know the bride.

It's a plated lunch, so there won't be extra. With tax 5 extra people make it an additional $75. Just starts to take away from the money to give the bride a gift or do more gifts for games.

Does your venue allow you to add people after the head count is due?

I only ask because I recently found out that's the rule at my wedding venue. My head count is due two weeks before the wedding, after that I can add but not subtract. If this is the case with your venue, I would leave them out of the count.

Yes, they do allow you to add on, but it's an additional cost per add on. I think it's only a $1-$2 per person, plus the cost of food. They don't allow you to go down though.

Thanks for the input, I think I forgot about that option as I was just trying to track down everyone.

@belle, I have done that with about 6 other ones and have only heard back from 2. I'm now asking guests to talk to their family members to see if their coming, lol... I can only imagine what her wedding RSVP will be like, lol...

Eesh. I know I hunted down a couple relatives for my bridesmaids when mail was returned; I can't imagine just saying no, you won't help with contact info. And I totally Facebook/Google stalked for the larger guest list.

Well, this situation just escalated, apparently the FMIL of SIL is annoyed and frustrated that she's being bothered with finding out if these people are coming to the shower or not. FMIL of SIL is the one who wanted this big shower and a shower in the first place and gave me the 25 people on her guest list. Now she's bitching b/c she has to track down people to see if they're coming or not. SMH

It's very upsetting. SIL was in tears b/c of her FMIL reaction and comments.
