Bridal shower registry

Victoria, on May 31, 2016 at 8:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Do you need to do a registry for the bridal shower and wedding? I feel like that's greedy in my opinion but I'd like your ladies opinions. I was in a wedding and she did both but for bridal shower it was more stuff that she wanted , is that the way it should be done? To have my own registry for the bridal shower and then a separate one for the wedding?

I created just one type of registry. Registered at 3 places to give options, but did not have different registries for the shower versus the wedding. All in one

I created just one registry at one location for both, keep my items reasonably prices for those who feel compelled to have a gift for both without a crazy priced item at both. I also put on my website that gifts are not required but I already started to get asked about where we are registered because it is kind of the standard in my family.

Most people do not create separate registries for the wedding itself and for something else, like a shower. I don't really see the point of doing separate registries.

If you're having a bridal shower thrown for you then you should have a registry, but it can be the same registry that guests use for the wedding. I've never heard of a bride having a registry for personal items. The idea is to register for items the couple can use as they "start their life together" or items for the home.

I would just have 1 type of registry - it should be stuff for you and FH.

If you have none people will give you cash - but than you shouldn't have a shower.

We give cash for wedding gifts here. So the registry gets used for the bridal shower only.

1 type of Registry. Since the bridal shower is happening because of the wedding.

One registry should be sufficient. We registered at 2 places - BB&B and Macy's - because we knew some guests lived near one and not the other. The point of a bridal shower is so people can "shower" you with gifts. In my circles, it's pretty standard to purchase a gift off of the registry for a shower and common to give another gift off the registry for the wedding. If you can't easily transport a gift/there's nothing left on the registry, we typically give cash in a card at the wedding.

I always thought people used your normal registey for the shower, and so if they go to the shower them they dont bring another gift to the wedding.

I did ask for a few things for my kids, lol. Ice cream maker, hot dog warmer, & popcorn maker. The other things were dishes mainly new stuff to replace the old, tub runners, dish towels, & that kind of stuff.

The same registry should be used for the shower and the wedding. In my experience, if you buy a gift for the shower, you don't have to buy one for the wedding.

I've never seen a specific registry for the shower and another for the wedding. I just had one registry and kept an eye on it to see it was full enough for guests to shop from. Even people who have multiple registries it's usually all for both.

We're using the wedding registries for the showers as well.

You never have to buy a gift for anything.

But etiquette says you bring a gift to the shower and for the wedding. Shower is usually a boxed gift. Wedding typically cash - but that part is flexible
