Exactly. And also, high quality lingerie is expensive, hard to justify in a tight daily budget, but of all gifts I find imposible to use, it is lingerie I just do not like or want against my skin.

So bridal shower etiquette is something that I struggled with a great deal. I actually ended up getting mostly cash and gift cards for that reason, as well as a few items from our registry. I saw someone above mentioned that adding comments to your registry items (most sites have this feature) will help guests in understanding why you chose this gift. I'd definitely use this tool with items that people might not fully understand the purpose of, especially if you want them!

I just had a very interesting idea though while reading this. Does your bridal shower have a theme? Because if you're wanting lots of cute accessories and outfits for your honeymoon, you could always brand the shower with a tropical theme! (And in turn, the gifts too!)

I'm not sure whether you're doing paper invitations (I just had a Facebook event) but you could go all the way with a tropical theme. Something along the lines of "help the bride to be get ready for her honeymoon while joining us for a tropical paradise bridal shower!".

For a few hundred years, showers, or the traditional filling if the hope chest and making trousseau, have been done exclusively by the closest women friends and family , and only for the bride. The wedding gift is for the couple. So though you may want to give gifts either B or G may use, people more often have bridal showers for just, yup, the bride.

Totes and luggage are fine. I wouldn't buy you personal accessories. The only accessories/clothing items that are typically bought for a shower/gift/bachelorette are lingerie for the bride, wedding day jewelry (sometimes the mother will offer to buy for her daughter), and maybe the garter.

I agree 100%! It’s your bridal shower, you know your guests/crowd. If they want to get you something that you can use as a couple that’s great, but if they prefer to get you something that’s on the bridal shower guest list then that’s their choice. I think it’s a wonderful idea to have both! Just from hearing from some of my guests, they plan on doing gifts such as lingerie. Everyone is different so it’s nice to give them some options! Some people can be so harsh on here geez lol
