Bridal Shower Location

My future step-MIL wants to have my bridal shower at a resturaunt that I'm not the biggest fan of. She is paying for the food, so I don't want to offend her. But I live in an apartment complex with a community center that we can rent for like $50 a day and get food catered (I'm thinking bbq). It's a cute space and obviously very close to our home.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this? Can anyone share their bridal shower experiences?

If someone offers to host a shower for you and you accept, you can’t really dictate how or where they do it.

Thanks for the input! I must add though, she did put the place out as a suggestion only so far. And it is a group effort between her and my bridesmaids. But it is awkward since she's paying for the food.

I agree with Caytlyn but I would hope that your tastes and preferences would be taken into consideration. Ask if you can be involved in the planning.

Maybe you could mention to one of your bridesmaids that you’re not a fan of the restaurant and they can let your FMIL know.

Just tell her you're not a fan of the restaurant and specifically why. Talk to her directly.

I would say it’s up to her but you thought your clubhouse might be great with bbq (name the place) and an other option or two. Let her ultimately decide since they’re paying for it.

If she is hosting, I'd let her pick. People don't eat a ton at bridal showers, it's a lot of talking & games & present opening. My mom had the BEST charcuterie boards at my bridal shower and I unfortunately barely ate any, I was so busy.
