Bridal shower invites too early?

rica, on March 15, 2018 at 4:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

My MOH might even have me beat with efficiency and planning, and she has done so much for the shower already. Her and I both tend to pride ourselves on getting things done quickly, but I'm wondering if I should dissuade her from sending the shower invitations too early? She has them all ready to go. What would be a standard timeline, and what would be way too early? Or does it not really matter?

I've gotten shower invites everywhere from a month to a week early. I imagine too early isn't a good idea though. People tend to forget.

I’ve never received a shower invite more than 6 weeks out, with the latest being about 2 weeks before.

When is your shower? Usually 4-6 weeks before the shower is a good time frame, though I have seen them as late as 2-3 weeks before.

I've always heard 4-6 weeks is a good timeline. Most of the shower invites I have received have been right at about a month before. I wouldn't do anything earlier than 6 weeks though.

Shower isn’t until July, and she was thinking send in May. But she has everything ready and asked what I thought about sending them early. I’ll tell her to stick with May Smiley smile

I sent some about 6-7 wks before for my cousins shower. They arrived about the 6wks before date. I am planning from another state and am tying to stay on top of everything Smiley smile

She sounds very eager! I would recommend sending them at the end of May then. The problem with sending them too early is that people procrastinate and forget about it. They see how far away the date is then put aside thinking they'll get around to it. But if you only give them about 4 weeks then they act on them sooner because it appears more time-sensitive to them so they don't put them aside and forget.

Mine went out last week of Feb for April 21. No family is local so it made sense. And my peer group social calendars fill up quick. Chances are I would not be able to attend with 2-4weeks notice. My crew is definitely 6 weeks +

^the RSVP date is April 6th. So by the time people got them it was a little over a month to decide if they were coming or not.
