I have a question: Is it rude to invite someone to your bridal shower but not the wedding? A distant friend of mine is getting married and invited me to the bridal shower and bachelorette party. However, she has made no mention to me about being invited to the actual wedding. My best friend has been invited to the wedding, so she said she would bring me as a plus one. I feel that is extremely rude and gift grabby to invite someone to all the pre wedding events but not the actual wedding. She is having a small ceremony with immediate family then a larger reception that evening.

Also, I asked if she was registered anywhere for the bridal shower and she stated she prefers cash. I thought the general idea of a bridal shower was to open gifts and such. Is this wrong?

It was already bad and then I got to the the Snapchat invite. She didn't even send you a proper invitation! You're a saint for even considering going. Hard pass.

Don't invite someone to the wedding shower if they are not invited to the wedding itself. However, having a smaller ceremony, then a larger reception is fine.

Asking for cash is rude and obnoxious. Unless you specifically mention you don't want gifts/cash, generally people will bring you gifts. If you aren't registered anywhere, people will be more likely to bring you cash anyways, but don't expect it.

My personal opinion here is that-- if I'm not important enough to you, that I'm invited to your wedding, then why should I be invited somewhere to buy you gifts. And then to top it off by asking for cash instead? Nope. Sounds like a money bucket to me!
