Bridal Show Scam???

Felicity, on June 30, 2019 at 4:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So we attended a wedding expo on Thursday and got a call today from a place called Registries Direct telling me we won 3 prizes through them, rings, a vacation, and champagne flutes. They said we have to attend a cooking show (by Kitchen Charm) tomorrow or Tuesday to claim our prizes. Has anyone else had this experience? It seems like a huge scam to me especially the vacation.

My bridesmaid won something like that from a bridal show and we ended up not going to the cooking show or whatever next day to claim it because it felt like they want to try to sell you things

I don’t know if you get the free stuff but it’s a hard sell of cookware.

I went to one bridal show and found that many of the “vendors” were trying offering free or discounted goods/services, but you have to sign on the spot or attend some sort of thing in order to get it. I’ll never go to another one.

I "won" a vacation. The catch was you have to sit through a day long sales pitch for a time share. Oh but they'll provide breakfast and lunch ((insert eye roll here))

Mine wasn't a bridal expo but I won a thing through David's bridal where I get a free spa day with facials and foot massage through Mary Kay. Also I can invite 4 others with. I was like cool, so I invited 4 others and we got there and we opened the door and it wasn't just us 5 it was us 5 and 35 others sitting at tables and it was demonstration of how to apply makeup facial cleansers and so on. I was pretty upset because I thought it was going to be a relaxing spa afternoon but it was more like a traditional Mary Kay party trying to sell stuff. On the plus side I got a $25 gift certificate to use on anything in thr catalog.

Girl it's a WHOLE scam! We recently went to a small wedding expo in VA and we only filled out our info for David's Bridal (because it's a known name). BIG MISTAKE! They basically sold our information to this Bridal Registry place. They sent me an email and test stating they we had been chosen and had won 2 champagne flutes, a honeymoon accommodation, and a $600 gift card for wedding bands. Upon hearing this, I was immediately intrigued. But something told me to dig some investigation first. That's when I came across similar stories. I texted the number back and asked if this was some type of timeshare or demo that we have to sit through. The person became nasty starting that she didnt have time to answer my nonsense questions and that someone much more deserving could take our place. Crazy asf!
