Hi all!

I went to a bridal show a few months ago and registered my name and phone number. I got a call today from a company called NHI International saying I won 2 wedding bands, a 3/day 2/night trip to the Caribbean, and champagne flutes. All I have to do is go to a "bridal expo" at the Holiday Inn in my city.

Has anyone every encountered anything like this? I searched them online and they appear to be a real company, but their website is odd. Does anyone know if this is a scam?

Thanks!

Such a waste of our time and they get us brides so all excited over nothing!! None of it was actually "free" have to pay shipping and handling on everything and these resorts have a TON Of block out dates airfare is not included and the travel agency that we have to go through to book the trip is currently under FRAUD investigations and isn't even taking any phone calls! What a joke

It's not a scam--you do get the things you are promised--but it's not really worth it IMO. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the trip, JVL has promo codes flying around constantly for the rings, and the champagne flutes are a bit tacky.

It's not a SCAM lol. Scam implies they take your money and take off. I bought this cookware with an ex-BF a long time ago, and while it was ridiculously expensive, it was really awesome cookware! Too bad he got to keep it :-(

If you don't want to sit through the presentation, don't go. But it's not a scam lol.

I went and sat through the presentation- it is not a scam and i did get the free wedding bands- i had to pay $50 shipping. It was intense sales pitch and almost harassing when you tell them no. You do get what is promised but with the trip they charge you taxes and airfare and they only have specific dates. The cookware was insanely pricey.

Its really not a scam. I got the same call, I was super cautious and called the Bridal Expo and they said that it was a legit company. So my Fiance and I went to the cooking demonstration. I actually enjoyed myself and so did every couple there. There were about 8 other couples. He cooked us some food in the cookware and explained every detail about them. Explained all the gifts and made it VERY CLEAR that it wasn't all free. You pay airfare and taxes. The trips are at a 3.5 star hotel, free food, free drinks (including alcoholic beverages) and select activities . My fiance and I told ourselves we weren't going to buy a thing. But we ended up buying the 3,000 dollar cookware- insane I know but hopefully its worth it! I did choose the vacation but haven't booked.

I'm actually meeting with them today. I'll give feedback once the meeting is over. Not looking forward to it after all these comments but hey, it's something free so I'm willing to try it out.

I went to this demonstration yesterday and it is what most say it is.

A cookware demonstration (top of the line, but expensive cookware) and they offer financing to get it if you don't have cash/credit on hand. As a "gift" for coming to the demonstration, you get the promotional gifts. (free 3 day, 2 night stay at a hotel but you have to pay the airfare, hotel tax, and reservation fee, 2 free titanium rings but you're responsible for shipping, 2 discounted personalized crystal champagne glasses, and a 1 year membership to a coupon site). The demonstrator was very kind and entertaining, not a pushy salesman as you'd think.

Haha! I got the same call and same offer! After researching airfare to the places they told me about over the phone, we decided to not even waste our time to sit through the 'cooking show'. The trip was 3D/2N, basically 1 full day. To me, I'd rather just pay the few hundred extra to where and when we want to go. Since the resort is like the cheapest part Smiley smile

Hi sorry this is a late post but i just got called from NHI International and they said that my sister who registered for a bridal show last weekend that we never went to was selected as a winner in their raffle. So i called the number and asked for the person who called me and then they put me on hold then asked to call me back. i never gave them my name. they then called me back and asked for me by name saying that i was the winner as well as my sister. They said that i won:

    - 2 wedding bands from Forever More Jewlery,

    - 3 days/ 2 nights stay at an all inclusive resort at Viva Wyndham Resorts at either their Bahamas, Dominican Republic, or Mexico resorts

-or if we wanted to stay closer to home we could choose USA Getaways and go to Las Vegas, Hawaii, California, Florida or Puerto Rico,

    - 1 year membership to some website with over $1000 worth of manufacturer coupons for groceries

    - 2 champagne flutes that could be customized

They said the only thing they need is for my fiance and i to attend a presentation of their products that would take about 1 1/2 hours. we would see demos of the product and sample food and that no purchase is necessary in order to get our gifts. all they ask is that both my fiance an i attend in order to get our gifts. when i asked when and what time they held the presentations they said it was tonight and tomorrow in buena park at 6pm and then they are having another presentation in pasadena tomorrow and sunday. i told her that i was going out of town and then she said she could hold the gifts until we got back and they would follow up with me in a couple of weeks. but i dont plan on accepting.

please let us know how it goes @jessnjon2018

My FH and I went tonight and it was exactly what I was expecting from reading this forum. There were 5 other couples along with us. The sales rep was an older man that definitely had no filter.....he said anything that came to his mind, and while not completely crude, he just made things awkward occassionally.

A lot of his presentation was him listing off his credentials over and over (we see X couples a year, partner with these companies, etc) which just got old.

We did get the gifts that we were told, gift card to purchase rings, certificate for champagne flutes, and either the US or international vacation. He did specifically state the stipulations on the gifts (have to pay shipping on rings and flutes, have to pay hotel taxes/airfare, have to pay to extend vacation days). Trips have to be booked minimum 60 days out, but can be saved and not used for over a year.

His presentation was him using the pots and pans to cook chicken breasts and broccoli/carrots, and talking about all the different features of the pans. We did get to taste it when it was completed, but this was a taste test, definitely not a meal. Afterwards he went through the different packages we could purchase. If you purchased that night, you got a 7 night trip to numerous location options for free (just pay air and takes).

You have to wait to the end obviously to get your gifts. There were two things that bothered me about the evening. 1) He went atleast 20 minutes over the 90 time frame. He claims this was all due to a new promo he had, us being his first session, and having to learn how to work it into his current pace. 2) We made known at the end that we weren't purchasing pans, and just wanted our gifts. He then proceeded to get the 4 couples that were purchasing started on paperwork ahead of just getting us gifts (perhaps in hopes we decided to buy as well, but since he ran over and there was another show after us, it does make sense to start paperwork)

So overall, yes, the pan sets are expense compared to a set at BB&B, but they do seem worth it over time. There are some discounts/promos, and with the added vacation it is a potential buy for a lot of couples. It was a rainy Friday night and we didn't have any other plans, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience for us to attend.

I have yet to try to use the gift card, or read all the detail for the trips, so not exactly sure how well that will go.

It is not a scam, but it is completely a sales pitch. I did not feel he pressured us into purchasing anything. He makes known you don't have to purchase to get the gifts, just sit through the whole evening.

It's not a scam at all. They tell you exactly what to expect (a 90 minutes sales pitch) when you get the call.

You get everything they promise you (and possibly more).

The pots and pans are totally worth the cost. It's a quality product guaranteed for LIFE. That means instead of buying a 300 dollar set of decent pans every 3-5 years for 50 years, you spend 1-3 grand ONE time.

We went for the smallest set (8 piece) for about 900 dollars. For that, we got a 7 night vacation thrown in, a 200 dollar gift card, and when he gets a letter of recommendation from us we will get a 9th pan thrown in. For couples that can't afford the gift up front, why not put it on your registry? We are using Zola and you could easily finance it and then make it a group gift that your guests could help you pay off!

I don't understand why people think they would get all these free things just handed off... the company is giving you these things to come check out their product!

It's real. My cousins won this for their wedding in 2015, plus 20k towards their wedding. It doesn't hurt to try. Smiley winking

I've spoken to the show promoters and they promise that these companies are legitimate. IF you have a weak spot for high pressure sales, do not follow up with these companies. But, if you know when to stop and would like to save money on a trip or rings or whatever is being given away, go for it. You are under no obligation if you don't want what's being sold.
