Bridal Show Advice

Lindsay, on January 4, 2017 at 11:32 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

This might sound a bit silly, but there is a bridal show in my town next weekend where tons of vendors will be, but I am not officially engaged yet. We have been talking engagement, know when we will have our wedding (May 2018), etc. but he hasn't officially post popped the question yet (although I am certain it will be in the next few months). It seems weird to go to the bridal show before I get engaged, but I feel like next years will be too close to the wedding to be of any help with locating the vendors we desire. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

If you guys are actively planning your wedding than you are engaged! Congratulations!

I say definitely go to the show, I went to one at the beginning of my engagement and it helped a lot to see what options were out there for vendors!

Honestly, I would go just to briefly meet vendors. Some places book over a year out, so waiting until next year's could be risky.

If you feel weird going then just wait until he proposes, there will be plenty of other shows between then and when you get married. Also, know you don't have a date until you reserve a venue so your date may change.

If you do go, make sure to create a separate email to sign up for vendors because your inbox will be flooded with emails and having a separate account makes it easier to organize things.

Sounds like you're engaged to me a ring and big proposal isn't necessary. Congrats might want to start looking at venues though because we got engaged July of 2016 and booked our venue for 3/16/2018 2 weeks after being engaged and it was the only weekend they still had available.

You could always look at a vendor list for that show and research them independently instead of going to the show if you feel weird. I actually went to one a few months ago with a friend who wasn't engaged at the time but knew she would be soon.

I second making a separate email for the show, you'll be getting a ridiculous amount of emails from all kinds of vendors and they will clog up your inbox.

Are you in the Phoenix area by chance, OP? Is it this upcoming weekend or next weekend? I'm going to the Phoenix one this weekend!

If it's not, then just ignore me. But if it is, I know they're doing another big one in June that might be better for you to attend if you feel awkward going now.
